Wow. Thanks for this story. When I was stationed in Japan from '89-'91, we had a few local nationals working at the broadcast station where I worked. Kobayashi, one of the older men, told me that his father was a flight instructor for some of the kamikaze pilots. His father worked for Mitsubishi.

The Victory at Sea series has some gret afootage of kamikaze attacks. It's just amazing to see how anything could get through the AA fire the ships put up.
