A lot of good detail from this soldiers diary. I had never heard of 'tree bursts'. I'm curious to about the 7,100 reported MIA and need to read more about this.

Learning something new everyday. I'm going to have to learn to read in my sleep or something. Not enough hours in the day.

'tree bursts' where pretty deadly. Made for a lot more shrapnel in the burst area and made artillery even deadlier.
The destructiveness of one tree burst is equal to several shells exploding in open ground.

"Band of Brothers" does an excellent job of showing the effects of tree bursts in the Bastonge Episode.
