Bush dodgers: Moving to Canada is a selfish act [loony alert]
Seattle Times ^ | Nov 22, 2004 | Randy Henderson

by Randy Henderson

Once again, the urge to move to Canada is a popular one among some liberals, thanks to Bush's election.

Why? Well, the top reasons, as cited by www.canadianalternative.com, include universal public health care, tolerance of gay marriage, no war in Iraq, and no federal deficits.

The site also notes that "the United Nations has ranked Canada the best country to live in for eight consecutive years." And while taxes are higher, people feel better about where those taxes are going.

[snip]

In five or 10 years, America will once again leap forward. But only if we don't let the slide backward continue unchallenged.

Heck, if nothing else, good ol' greed and need will force progress. You think America will stand by while Canada makes billions off of hemp products, especially when those products are cheaper, better quality and much better environmentally than those made with American lumber, cotton, chemicals or petroleum and plastics?

Do you think America will be happy to buy all its clean-energy production equipment from France, or all its gas-free cars from Japan?

No. America will eventually legalize hemp, seriously pursue environmentally friendly technologies and more, because that is where the future is, that is where the profits and jobs will be.

Canada doesn't need an @$$-hole infestation either. Make them stay here and start medicinal hemp communes in the middle of nowhere.

The following appeared in the Columbus Dispatch on 11/16/04 written by Joe Blundo, a Dispatch columnist:

Canada Busy Sending Back Bush-dodgers.

The flood of American liberals sneaking across the border into Canada has intensified in the past week, sparking calls for increased patrols to stop the illegal immigration. The re-election of President Bush is prompting the exodus among left-leaning citizens who fear they'll soon be required to hunt, pray and agree with Bill O'Reilly. Canadian border farmers say it's not uncommon to see dozens of sociology professors, animal-rights activists and Unitarians crossing their fields at night.

"I went out to milk the cows the other day, and there was a Hollywood producer huddled in the barn," said Manitoba farmer Red Greenfield, whose acreage borders North Dakota. The producer was cold, exhausted and hungry "He asked me if I could spare a latte and some free-range chicken. When I said I didn't have any, he left. Didn't even get a chance to show him my screenplay, eh?" In an effort to stop the illegal aliens, Greenfield erected higher fences, but the liberals scaled them. So he tried installing speakers that blare Rush Limbaugh across the fields. "Not real effective," he said. "The liberals still got through, and Rush annoyed the cows so much they wouldn't give milk."

Officials are particularly concerned about smugglers who meet liberals near the Canadian border, pack them into Volvo station wagons, drive them across the border and leave them to fend for themselves. "A lot of these people are not prepared for rugged conditions," an Ontario border patrolman said. "I found one carload without a drop of drinking water. They did have a nice little Napa Valley cabernet, though."

When liberals are caught, they're sent back across the border, often wailing loudly that they fear retribution from conservatives. Rumors have been circulating ab ut the Bush administration establishing re-education camps in which liberals will be forced to drink domestic beer and watch NASCAR. In the days since the election, liberals have turned to sometimes-ingenious ways of crossing the border. Some have taken to posing as senior citizens on bus trips to buy cheap Canadian prescription drugs. After catching a half-dozen young vegans disguised in powdered wigs, Canadian immigration authorities began stopping buses and quizzing the supposed senior-citizen passengers. "If they can't identify the accordion player on The Lawrence Welk Show, we get suspicious about their age," an official said.

Canadian citizens have complained that the illegal immigrants are creating an organic-broccoli shortage and renting all the good Susan Sarandon movies. "I feel sorry for American liberals, but the Canadian economy just can't support them," an Ottawa resident said. "How many art-history majors does one country need?"

In an effort to ease tensions between the United States and Canada, Vice President Dick Cheney met with the Canadian ambassador and pledged that the administration would take steps to reassure liberals, a source close to Cheney said. "We're going to have some Peter, Paul & Mary concerts. And we might put some endangered species on postage stamps. The president is determined to reach out."

I think that it is better for the USA if these liberals leave! They clearly are not good for the USA.

WRONG! Moving to Canada is a wondrful altruistic thing for them to do. Our neighbors to the north desperately need their wisdom and money.

As far as the quality of medicinal hemp in Canada goes, he's wrong.

My uncle had beat stomach cancer (yes even with socailized medicine, go figure) and now has a government issued license to posess and smoke hemp.

He doesn't buy from the government however, because he says their stuff is crap.

He buys it the old fashioned way.

Is the main issue for "bush dodgers" the whole Canadian gay marriage thing?

Bush dodgers: Moving to Canada is a selfish act.

However, sadly not uncharacteristic. Good riddance.

Also, we must all work diligently in the coming months to convince “progressives” that the Democratic Party has let them down. They must abandon the party. Their only recourse is to join and work for the Green Party moving forward. I may even register as a Green Party member to swell their voter registration rolls. Divide and conquer.

Begin with putting all known “progressives” in your sphere of influence on the Green Party mail list from their website. Great fun. Start inundating them with information now.

I will feel sorry for any Canadian who comes across my sociology professor.

My sociology professor was not a nice man. He was a Reagan hater, even though Reagan had been out of office for a while. He also was a drug-using, hygiene-hating nut.

Here's the reality. Our healthcare system in Canada is ranked somewhere in the teens. It is not number one. It also consumes in excess of 50% of provincial budgets. With a smaller tax base and aging population it will be 75 to 80% of provincial budgets in 20 to 30 years. It sounds like sugarland but it will last maybe as long as social security will in the United States.

Yes, we have budget surpluses. Only because the federal government has absolved its responsibilities. The Feds now send 1/4 of what they did 10 years ago back to provinces to pay for healthcare, expecting the provinces to pick up the shortfall. Any idiot can see why they can then show surpluses. Indeed spending outside healthcare has INCREASED in Ottawa.
