While I'm surfing the web, I happen to have the TV on WWE RAW for background noise, and Mick Foley (aka Mankind, Dude Love, Cactus Jack) is doing a promo for his new book and talking about support for the troops. ANd he mentioned that he had a "few John Kerry bumper stickers in the garage." when he said that the whole arena erupted in boos. Now Mick Foley is very popular in the wrestling world, but that definenlty won't help him as Vince McMahon and the majority of the WWE superstars are vocal Republicans and Bush supporters
this is all scripted... he's just playing a Kerry voter on tv, I bet
One too many "Rock Bottoms" and "People's elbows" I guess.
Uh huh.
Saw him a few weeks ago promoting his book on Fox & Friends.
Say it ain't so! (Sob!) How could a guy who used barbed-wire for ring ropes and got body-slammed on a tray of tacks possibly do something as silly as support Kerry?
"I know who I'm not voting for. I'm not voting for Gore/Lieberman - they remind me of right to censor"
and later on he blasts him for not conceding.
I like Mr.Ass and Triple H... but then I've not watched wrestling in a while.
Did you guys just see the those two Arab guys? (forget the names) bad mouthing US troops? I'm sure any US soldier watching the show at the time had their blood pressure go through the roof, mine did.
So much for his cheap pop...
Thats what I was thinking. LOL ...
/sarcasm
The guy's name was "Hassan" - new heel. Remember how the Iron Sheik got booed during the Iran thing? I don't think this guy has the charisma of the Sheik, though...
Don't forget the "Crippler Crossface".
Anybody remember Hulk Hogan fighting the Iron Shiek and Sgt. Slaughter turning his back on America during the Gulf War? Man, those were the days...
I remember when George Nethercutt beat him in '94.
In today's society, professional wrestling is the only acceptable way that men can watch a soap opera and not get called gay.
Vince McMahon has never been shy to use political and world events and hatred around the world for the U.S. as means to promote angles. During the first Gulf War in 1991, they had Sgt. Slaughter turn heel by saying he was supporting Saddam Huissan and Iraq. And of course now they have La Resistance waving French Flags in the ring and bad mouthing America every week. And one of the most famous, who can forget back in the mid 1980's during the peak of the cold war, you had the Iron Shiek and Nikolai Volkoff. The Iron Shiek was an Iranian wrestler coming down to the wring every week and waving an Iranian flag and screaming about how great the Iotola was. And Volkoff always POed whatever arena he was in by singing the Soviet national anthem before his matches.
I aways thought this guy looked like Al Gore.
