What a neat topic.

It attracted me because I thought someone was describing my Basque landscaper lol. He does remain a mystery to me as well.

There is a large community of Basque people (both French and Spanish speaking as well as their own language and excellent English)....they are delightful and hardworking - great agrarians and still maintain close family ties with family in France and Spain. I live in South/Central California but there are many families living on the Central Coast as well.

Sorry - I didn't add anything just wanted to nod in to say I am enjoying all the informed knowledge you guys possess!
