Anybody know about the stepfather to Obama? The one he lived with in Indonesia?

It makes a difference, though, that he doesn't know the difference between truth and fantasy, or else doesn't care.

Let's just let everyone run on his or her own virtues or vices and stop worrying about lineage.

While I understand and agree with your sentiment, the mythical construct of his father is being used by him to emotionally manipulate voters. Pointing out the mythical nature of his construct is proper. Though, in fairness, it probably could have been done in fewer sentences.

As the son of drunk and abusive parents, who didn't pass it along to my own children, I find articles dragging in one's parents or children to be irrelevant and disgusting.

I can understand why you feel that way, but I respectfully disagree. Family background of political figures has been an issue in American politics since Alexander Hamilton (known to have been born out of wedlock). With Obama announcing his candidacy for the highest office in the country, one of the prices he must pay is increased public scrutiny of his entire life. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with voters having as much information as possible before making a decision on who is to hold the most powerful political position in the world.

A case in point is Bill Clinton, where many sobering revelations about the candidate's background were unavailable to the public until after he was in the White House. The country paid a high price for its ignorance!

I could also care less about his parents problems except that he has lied over and over about them in order to make himself look good.

Amybody know about the stepfather...?

Not all that much, except that he was a Muslim, and that Obama attended a Muslim school in Indonesia for two years. The question is whether the youngster Obama might have been exposed to an education in Islamic radicalism during that period.

The stepfather left the mother, who moved back to Hawaii with her son.

Normally it would be unfair to talk about his father's past, but when Obama writes a book, Dreams From My Father, then the topic is fair game. It is like when another senator tried to use his Vietnam Veteran status to get elected president. Then his record is fair game.

Sounds like Osama Obama is a typical lying rich liberal, claiming to have lived a life of poverty and discrimination, when the truth is the exact opposite. He'll go far in RAT politics.

The Republican Party or Democrat Party is the noun. Reverse for testing proper grammar. The Party of Republicans, or the Party of Democrats. It isn't the Party of Democratics.

Normally, I would agree with you, because that's the American way. People should be judged on their own personal merits, not on those of their forebears.

But in this case, almost all of Obama's political resume is built around who his father was. Therefore, it is as useful to know who his father really was as it was to delve into the real military service of Lurch when he made Vietnam the centerpiece of his campaign.

I agree with your first sentence.

And if one of "HIS views" includes deliberate fabication in a published work he authored, ....
. ......then I agree with your second sentence, too.

and I am reminded of John Fn Kerry

This is a big ado over nothing. Whether it's the "Democrat Party" or the "Democratic Party", we all know what a speaker means when he or she uses either term.

The fact that some Democrats take issue with "Democrat Party" shows what thin skin they have. They are probably trying to blur the fact that the name of their party isn't consistent with its current ideology.

I think he must be an alien!

Legally, definitely not. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. So he's an American citizen pursuant to the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution.

But what he thinks of himself may be a horse of a different color (no pun intended).

The stepfather left the mother, who moved back to Hawaii with her son.

Ann Dunham sent young 'Barry' to live with his grandparents in Hawaii.

Dunham remained in Indonesia.

So his father wasn't the greatest guy and his mother probably embellished the history so the son would have some proud thoughts of his father. Big deal. Obama rises or sinks on his own two feet in my book. IN that case...

""...Mr Obama was later admitted to read politics and international relations at New York's prestigious Columbia University where, his book claims, "no matter how many times the administration tried to paint them over, the walls remained scratched with blunt correspondence (about) niggers.""

Those are his words? Sound like B.S.

Mr. Obama need only set down with the Internet and search for Saul Alinsky+Hillary to learn of Mrs. Clinton's training in Yale's Marxist Madrases.

An acolyte of old (and 1960s new) leftist Saul Alinsky Mrs. Clinton so admired her mentor that she devoted her early years to him. Even dedicating dissertations to him -- all of which suddenly became Top Secret in the early 1990s but some like David Horowitz managed to Berger the sensitive papers, I guess; I don't know how Mr. Horowitz got the highly classified documents for his book, Shadow Government.

Yes the 1930s, 40s, 50s, and 60s progressives' favorite and much admired radical who boasted "I feel confident that I could persuade a millionaire on a Friday to subsidize a revolution on Saturday out of which he would make a huge profit on Sunday even though he was certain to be executed on Monday" taught a young Hillary Rodham "the way it is" and how to "fan the flames of discontent."

Job well done, Mr. Alinsky, wherever you are.

Hmmmmm, one cannot help the sins of your father, however, since bigamy is illegal--Barak, Sr.s 2nd marriage to Ann was never legitimate.

This makes Barak, Jr., ummm, well, you know the word.
