He squelched his typically blistering rhetoric against the war in Iraq.

I was wondering about the sanity of having Mellencamp there. He's music's ok, but his vitriol is appalling. I'm glad he had sense enough (or handlers enough) to shut up about it in that venue.

Unlike most of the moonbat artists, Mellencamp’s opposition to the war is a bit more reasoned and yes, he would have the sense not to go on about it in front of the troops. He’s one artist I can still support and appreciate even though I disagree with him on a political level. He’s definitely not a Dixie Chick.

As usual, I was visiting "my guys" Friday night. A guy and a gal were running all over the place verbally inviting EVERYONE they came across to attend the concert. A bit later, another man was hustling around trying to herd EVERYONE he saw over to the building where the concert was to be held.

I explained I was not a troop, but a visitor. They all said, "It doesn't matter! Come to the concert!! It's FREE!!!" My response was; "No matter...you couldn't pay me enough to go over there. I don't like his politics!"
Then I saw one of "my guys" and his fiancee and they asked me to go with them. They received the same answer. They eventually got on the bus after some coaxing.

They were so desperate to get bodies into the hall they called the FReepers out on the street and invited them in for the concert. I heard that only 40 people were there shortly before it was to start. Although, word is that 1-200 eventually found their way in. Perhaps they rounded up the homeless and the druggies from the neighborhood.

Meanwhile, a rather large group of soldiers continued to sit in the dining room playing cards. LOL! Gotta love our troops!!!

Why the big push to round up everyone they could find to attend???

It was to be a huge PR campaign for that Mellen guy! Live coverage was played on some TV station to prove that HE SUPPORTS THE TROOPS!!!

I've never been happier about turning down something FREE in my life!!!
