91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

I have always felt this was an "end time" Psalm because in David's day 10,000 could not fall at once.
The "Because" is critical! For those who have not make the Lord their refuge -- they are without Divine Protection!
The reality is all scripture is significant to this.
A prayer covering and a Blood covering...who could want for more?
Good post and concept. You are right. The promises are based on mutual covenants. The Lord said, "You do your part. I'll do mine." Our part of course is to yield to the Holy Spirit and obey. Ro 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? If we will, He will. If we will not, He will not. That is a simple and a major principle of the Lord.
Mt 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
Ye would not sounds a lot like, and repented not of their deeds. Rev 2:21; 9:20; 16:9,11.
I once saw that Ps 91 was not only to those in war, but to those in bio-war, and I had the opportunity to test my faith in His promises. I was with a group of people who were all getting very ill from something "going around." I knew that Faith is not a zipped one time download at the time of saying a Sinner's Prayer. Knowing that faith is a gift of God not of works lest any man should boast and to be asked for just as we ask for daily bread, I asked the Lord for faith to stand on this word. He granted it, I stood and everyone fell on my right and left to the illness, except me. Praise God for His mighty deliverance!
There is a huge difference between:
1) His way: yielding to the Lord, hearing Him and standing on a promise when the Lord says, "stand on this scripture." That is walking in daily revelation.
2) My way: not hearing the Lord (a famine of the word is in the land, folks!) and naming and claiming a scripture willy nilly, whatever you choose and saying it will happen, and not lining up with the condition of the promise.
That is the difference between who will inherit the saving promises of Ps. 91 and who will fall to the promises of Prov. 1:20-33.
Obedience is mandatory to walk in Grace and that is not works, that is our reasonable service. That means obedience not just to the written commands, but the ones He writes on hearts (if the heart is not a heart of stone), and the ones He breathes hour by hour to our hearts and minds.

We are to live and move and have our being in Him. The "form of godliness" crowd that are not dwelling in the secret place now and are not abiding in Him now shall not abide under the shadow of the Almighty in trouble but will be among those who fall. Belief is not faith. They should hurry and repent now because there is coming a time when they call and He will not answer. It must be soon, considering the Biafra starving child in a famine look "the church" is currently wearing. If one substitutes the word "Lord" for the word "Wisdom" hereafter, one shall truly get the mind of Christ towards those in America who refuse to repent.
Pr 1:20 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? [seduction] and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
32 For the turning away [backsliding/apostacy] of the simple [seduced] shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Many read right over this without seeing what it says. The thousand that "at thy side" are your brothers, your compadres. the "ten thousand at your right hand" are different though. Think in terms of the time this was penned, when warriors went into battle armed with swords, which they used in THEIR RIGHT HANDS.
Yes, the "ten thousand at your right hand" are the enemy, killed with your sword.
