After the war, can I really trust FReepers to demand that any 'temporary' restrictions on financial privacy (to cut off terrorist $$, of course), any 'temporary' ID card requirements, any 'temporary' WOD-like suspensions of the 4th amendment, etc. be removed? We cannot even get rid of the damn mohair subsidy.
Sorry guys, but I just don't trust y'all to fight to repeal something signed by Bush that you would man the ramparts against if signed by Clinton. I honestly don't.

This is all a concern that worries me. You are right, it will be tough to get rid of some of this stuff. It really worries me. However, we can't allow the prosecution of the war, and maintaining security here at home to be hamstrung by such concerns right now. We have to prevent further attacks and also win the war. There's no other option.
