Okay, here's a newbie question. Why do people avoid typing out the word God? I've seen several posts that have G-d rather than God. At first I thought that it was a sign of disrespect from nonbelievers, but I've seen it used in context by people who are obviously devout Christians.
So what gives?

In the Jewish religion it is disrespectful to write His entire name .... thus the "-" instead of the "o" ...
I always worry I am offending people for whom I have such high respect ... because I do put the "o" between the "G" and "d" .... each time I type it ~~~ I worry ...
