Pakistani linked to anthrax mailbox
MICHAEL BEACH in New York
21oct01
AMERICAN investigators are hunting a Pakistani man, who overstayed his visa, so they can question him about two anthrax-laced letters.
The manhunt started after investigators homed in on a mailbox believed to have been used by bioterrorists to send the two letters.
Investigators made the breakthrough after a mail carrier in Ewing, New Jersey, came down with the disease.
Two anthrax-infected letters one sent to NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw, the other to Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle were postmarked at a regional mail centre that serves the Ewing area.
Another employee at the centre has developed skin anthrax.
A swarm of FBI agents descended on Ewing, west of New York, yesterday to door-knock the woman's mail route and check post office security videos.
A source said investigations centred on a Pakistani man, who had left the area since the letters were sent.

"That would be about September 18. Isn't that the first mailing date of the Anthrax?"Not sure. Close, though.
To: atafak
I believe the first was a letter to Kenya mailed September 8th ...........

Pakistan.

Didn't the Kenyan anthrax letter come out of Atlanta?
Are the subsequent tests still coming back positive?

In Pakistan. They take in poor orphans and turn them into zombie killers who can recite the koran from memory. No other education is considered necessary to complete the appointed tasks in their short lives.

I've had my doubts about the Kenya story. It was from a close relative of the recipient. The powder in it was in a sealed(?) plastic bag, along with some cloth samples sent by the relative. An odd story, to my thought.

Yes, but he and his family live in Brooklyn , which is NOT in Jersey.

"An odd story, to my thought."Seems out of place.

Nope, that father came back and yelled at the police , for " harassing " his children, because they interviewed them.

"Yes, but he and his family live in Brooklyn , which is NOT in Jersey."Not saying it's the same guy... Just pondering the possible dots to connect.
To: nopardons
It's been elsewhere reported that since then the father has gone back to Pakistan.

"then cross referenced the neighborhood with anybody with a expired visa from an "arab country". What kind of waste of taxpayers money is this?"Quite right.
Anyone in the neighborhood from an Arab country with an expired visa should have already been deported.
Not that Pakistan is actually an Arab country.

Where the h*ll is the American media? They are too busy telling everyone what a peaceful religion Islam is. Well, it's anything but. It is a religion of mass murder and destruction.

The Moslems are at peace with infidel death.

Where ? It wasn't in the N.Y. Post ; which is where I have been reading about it. Nor was it on any N.Y.C. stations radio or T.V. channels.

Yeah, as if right-wingers are hoping to give gov't more power and all of us less freedom. How typical of right-wingers to threaten the Bahamas and Argentina! And they just happen to be from Fla and NJ, stocked up on anthrax, just in case!

Right: Where in hell ARE the American papers---half of them couldn't scrape up enough ink to report the ex-first lardarsed bi+ch & her limousine cronies "running" thru an airport security checkpoint near NYC and putting a security agent in the hospital. Nor has the the Rochester (NY) Gannett fishwrapper yet found the ink to report the MAJOR booing she and the rapist received in NY the other day. The media STILL can't seem to extract its nose(s) from the butts of these two international disgraces. Thank God once again for the internet and FR!

The
original story was broken by Jeffrey Scott Shapiro of the Journal News. Below is the relevent section:
Federal agents who visited the New Utrecht school questioned the student and his older brother, who also attends there, the sources said. Afterward, the agents tried to question their father, who chastised them for harassing his children, they said.
Police sources said that, after the interviews, the boy's father left for Pakistan. After his departure, investigators conducted a second interview with the boy and his mother, who told them that her son was having psychological problems.
The boy and his brother have returned to school, but police said the FBI discussed keeping them under surveillance.
