[history]
SAN FRANCISCO -- Mark Bingham was a strapping 220-pound, 6-foot-5 rugby player who had fought off muggers on the street and run with the bulls in Spain before taking on the terrorists on United Flight 93.
One of the heroes to emerge from America's biggest tragedy, Bingham has also become a symbol of hope to the nation's gays -- a man whose sexual orientation made no difference when lives were at stake.

Why is it that the the very people who "don't want everybody prying into their bedrooms" are the ones always telling us about what goes on in their bedrooms?
BTW, any person who helped take down Flight 93 is a hero in my book. But I don't want to hear about who, or what, they have had sex with.

called his mother saying they had been hijacked by three men who said they had a bomb. Bingham, sitting within reach of the cockpit, is believed to be one of those who fought the terrorists There appears to be a disconnect here

Just forget about the fire fighters, the NYPD , the soldier in the field and what not, let us make the hero gay... not.
To: lavaroise
wonder if GOD thought his being gay was ok ??????

Funny, I did not know anal sex had an effect on speech, but now I am told by the media that anal sex preference has lot's to do with heroism, how about that. The Nazies would say it was white skin sex preferences, our Nazi media tells us it is not in fashion anymore, it's anal sex. Aren't we living indeed in such an enlightened world... not.

Yup. What a waste of good genes.

Only a man on a mission would devote so many words to such a nothing story. Why would Newsday devote so much space to this topic unless to trash Falwell or someone else during the process.
May I say that I am sickened by Newday's attempt to use an honorable act for dishonorable purposes. As for the sexual orientation of the individual, it has nothing at all to do with the morality of trying to stop the hijacking. It neither makes his act more honorable or less honorable. It neither makes him more honorable or less honorable. However, the inclusion of the homosexual angle does make Newsday more honorable or less honorable. I'll let you figure out which that is.

Methinks Paul Holm wanted some attention.
This is really more than I needed to know.

I didn't notice any headlines about heterosexual heroes. I wonder how many WTC victims Joycelyn Elders will claim were brave masterbaiting heros.
