Where is a soldier like Gen. Patton when you need one. War is hell and messy stuff. Yes civilians get killed, yes years later there are unexploded munitions. Wars isn't clean and anticeptic. War is messy. The Taliban should have thought of that prior to allowing Bin Landen to do his thing. The people of the Country should have thought of that prior to allowing the Taliban to rule. War is messy. Sorry, we can't do anything about it and we are at war, a war started by somebody else. Tough Dian's fund, get real, and get over it!

Although the Pentagon has emphasised its desire to minimise civilian casualties, American aircraft have recently begun dropping cluster bombs on the Taleban’s front line with the Northern Alliance.

Shouldn't this say:

Although (T)he Pentagon has emphasised its desire to minimise civilian casualties, so the American aircraft have recently begun dropping cluster bombs on the Taleban’s front line with the Northern Alliance.

Suggest to them that we set off a BIG NUKE in Afghanistan.

Should satisfy them. I think the detonation rate is probably close to 100%. This should eliminate the problems associated with unexploded ordnance.

Damn, the Northern Alliance could get to "love the smell of napalm in the morning".

Ain't that the truth. They keep pussy footing around with those F-18's and their 2,000 pounders and the Turdibans just crawl in their holes and wait it out. Then they shell the Northern Alliance between bombing runs.

I say it is time to roll out the B-52's and B-1's for some nice carpet bombing runs, then the napalm with a couple of fuel air bombs thrown in. Clean it up a little with some AC-130's making a couple of passes with the mini-guns at full bore.

Let the Northern Alliance have Kabul and we will worry about the government make up later. Just get on with it.

I'vs been wondering why they aren't carpet bombing the Taliban trench lines. I probably don't want to know the answer.

It's frustrating as heck. They are sitting right there asking for it.

The only thing I can figure is we made a deal with the Paks that only a coalition govt will be allowed and the Paks get to influence its make up. If we let the Nortern Alliance stroll into Kabul, we may have trouble getting them out, and the Paks could pull the plug on our using their territory.
