The anthrax is from Iraq. The government has known that for weeks. They have known for weeks that Saddam can order his operatives here to kill tens or hundreds of thousands of Americans and plunge the US economy into complete chaos at a moment's notice, and he is threatening to do so if we make a move against him. This charade is to buy time until they figure out what to do about it.

Perhaps "they" could do what "they" did when, during the buildup to Destert Storm, soddom threatened the use of biological agents against Americans.

There was another, 9-paragraph story tucked inside this one in a box, and it states that a government official with direct knowledge of the investigation said the totality of the evidence suggests that it is unlikely the spores were originally produced in the former USSR or Iraq, the only two countries besides the United States that can produce anthrax with such a sophisticated chemical additive.
