Generally speaking, how much ammo per weapon should I have on hand?

Guess that depends on how many neighbors you have that didn't do their own preparation and how good a shot you are

In all honesty, I keep a 3 month supply of food, I think a year is a little extreme, and for each weapon, I have 1000 rounds of ammo. Not just for each caliber, but for each weapon, although the 30/30 and 30/06 I keep 2000, these are hunting rifles and therefore are for food as well as defense. I also have non genetic seeds, you can grow more from what you have grown, (genetically altered will not reproduce) and if kept dry and cool, last practically forever.
