It's a great article and I find myself in near total agreement with everything he points out. But one of the things that has me puzzled is the reaction I'm seeing from all the Generals that I've seen interviewed. Now maybe it's just because they don't want to contend with the State Dept. and appear at odds with them, but none of them advise going in guns ablazing, and the reasons they give are very convincing. So I'm wondering if their seeming tentativeness is mostly due to political considerations, or physical/geographic (for lack of a better term) limitations that could possibly doom us. All of them seem convinced it is an impossibility to prosecute this war by most conventional means. And I'm left to wonder, since they really have more expertise than most other people commenting on the subject, are they right?
