Web: Project launching today offers more text than Library of Congress.
SAN FRANCISCO -- An Internet archive containing more text than any library in history will open its digital doors today, giving researchers and the public access to just about everything posted on the World Wide Web over the last five years.
The free archive, created by a San Francisco computer entrepreneur named Brewster Kahle, allows academics to conduct the electronic equivalent of archeological digs, rooting through reams of material illustrating the evolution of the Web and its role in American society.

How long do you think this guy be allowed to provide this archive? Wasn't the LAT and WP argument that they "charged a fee" for their archived material? If he succeeds, can't you sue on the grounds that the LAT and WP were discriminating your site because its "conservative"?

This is absolutely ASTOUNDING!! I wrote two years worth of articles and op-eds for an particular internet site - following my departure from that site, my articles were discontinued, and they were lost to me because of copyright issues. Now thanks to this archive, I can print out and save them!!! HOW COOL IS THAT!!!

I couldn't find any of the "free" pages I created either. But I did find the "paid" business site I created. I originally thought maybe they only archived pages that were registered, but then... just do a search for the URL, http://members.aol.com and you come up with 13,000 or something sites. I can't figure out their pick-and-choose rules either.
