I read recently that Hillary! has introduced a bill to save Manhattan. Unfortunately, I can't find the article but I do remember the offer of a $3000 federal tax rebate for people who are willing to reside in a certain area of Manhattan.

Sorry for being so vague, but have you heard of this?

Unless the prices in Battery Park City have totally collapsed since 9/11 (no pun intended), $3000 isn't worth spitting at. Wow, a whole month's rent off, yay.

I don't know why anyone wants to live there anyway. Remember that 2.7 quake this morning? Wait until a 5.x quake hits NYC. BPC is built on landfill from the dirt excavated to make room for the WTC. When a big quake hits, that dirt will liquefy, and not only will all the apartment buildings there collapse instantly, you'll get the extra added bonus of being swept out to sea at the same time. Have fun!

It's a rebate for companies in the WTC are that hire..problem is....it doesn't work....large companies, with multiple locations in the city..will hire only there, instead of other areas.....so it's just corporate welfare..and small businesses....well, they'll just rip off the system...who's gonna monitor it..i.e. a candy storew "hires" 20 people at minimum wage...gets a $60k credit....two months later.....lays them off..or they quit..cause they were phoney employes..a classic rip off....whaddya expect from Hillary?

Yes, it's a joint proposal by Senators Schumer, Clinton, Corzine, and Torricelli. Also backed up by Governor Pataki. It would provide a tax credit for people who purchase or lease residential space in the frozen zone. It would also provide a tax credit (based on a percentage of their employees' wages) for employers who open businesses in the zone.
