Was Peter chosen after the death of James, who was the head of the Jerusalem church after the crucifixion?Peter was chosen by Jesus Christ, so it would have been before the death of James. This is of course based on the Catholic view that the Bible clearly sets forth that Peter was the Rock, and was told to tend our Lord’s sheep. Obviously, this is disputed by many here.
