As long as they will not ask to deport muslims and jail leftists supporting them, I will not take any within the government seriously.

Serious attack or no serious attack, if we let them roam the nation, it ain't comparable to the courrage displayed during the Cuban missile crisis.

All it is, is Kelp. People take it to boost their metabolism. Its supposed to help trigger sluggish thyroids. Most stores have it, drug stores, and certainly any health food store.

I don't think kelp tablets will have enough iodine to saturate the thyroid. IIRC, kelp has elemental iodine, and if you take enough elemental iodine to saturate the thyroid, you'll get a toxic effect. Potassium iodide and potassium iodate are the two forms that are tolerated, and used for protection from radiation. Other countries keep large supplies by their nuke plants, and we should have done so after TMI. (There was a big stink back then because it wasn't available.) The official US policy is that we can fly it in to any location where it's needed (i.e., a nuke plant meltdown), but IMO that's playing it too close to the vest. You need to start taking it immediately, not "whenever they can get around to loading a plane, flying it across the country, unloading the plane, loading the trucks, getting it to 'distribution centers', and fighting your way through the traffic and panicked crowds".

PS: "flying it to where it's needed" may be problematic if it's needed in several locations, and air traffic is grounded.

From the link you gave.

Potassium Iodide (KI) is approximately 76.5% iodine.

I have taken Kelp tablets for about 25 years. If it were toxic... my doctor would have found it by now. I have bloodwork done regularly. Like every 6 months at least. Kelp tablets are 150% ... and yes, they are iodine, too, from North Atlantic Kelp!

My thyroid was "nuked" in a medical procedure as a treatment for hyperthyroidism, and it's not something I'd do over given the choice. Lack of normal thyroid function is not pleasant to deal with, especially when you're trying to find the right dosage of replacement thyroid hormone. So if you're able, get some tomorrow. EVERYBODY!

"Potassium Iodide (KI) is approximately 76.5% iodine."

Um, yes. Table salt is probably 50% sodium, too. Do you know what happens when you take elemental sodium?

An iodine salt is not the same as elemental iodine. You can take a much higher dose of iodine in the form of potassium iodine than you can in the form of elemental iodine.

Go to ki4u.com, check the tables for the amount of iodine you need to ingest on a daily basis to keep your thyroid saturated, then check how many kelp tablets you'd need to take to provide that amount. I'm not making this stuff up.

Yup, it is. What's so funny about that? The guy who runs the site is a freeper, and his site is widely acknowledged as the definitive source for KI information. Do you find any fault with the content there, or are you simply taking a cheap pot shot at him for no particular reason?

And before you ask, no, I have no affiliation with him or his company. I confess that I did purchase some potassium iodide from him several years ago, because frankly, I could not find anything close to the price he charged anywhere else I looked.

I just flagged him here so that he can defend himself.

Whatever! lol

I was just curious, and no offense, but I think I'll pass. It's almost 5:30am and I need to get some sleep. Long day tomorrow what with halloween and all.
