[history]
Washington -- The FBI has been using subpoenas from a Florida grand jury to obtain information from universities and research institutions, including Long Island's Brookhaven National Laboratory, as part of its search for possible sources of contraband anthrax or people with the expertise to make it.
While investigators still do not know the origin of the pure, fine-grained anthrax mailed to the office of Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.), some experts have said it could be the work of a competent, doctorate-level microbiologist.

Some profs out there know those people and they are not using their brains. I know science profs, they are so focused on their work they do not even ask questions.
For example my university does not allow to bring guns on campus, however I once was able to make project that consisted in building a cheap device to take pictures of bullets and high speed projectiles. There was never any question about whether I was violating any rule if bringing an arsenal of assault weapons on campus.

Why isn't hte FBI investigating
ALL middle eastern students who studied physics, bio, chem, etc. and the universities they attended? A big fishing operation may net those responsible.
BTW I'll bet the only middle eastern students who actually attend class are the flight students and science majors

"The FBI showed routine interest in Princeton as a place with a graduate program in molecular biology, said Steven Schultz, a spokesman for Princeton University, in New Jersey. "We told them there is no anthrax research on campus. Here's the apparent reason for the FBI's interest in the Princeton University Department of Molecular Biology.
There may be no official anthrax research going on in that department, but I wonder if that necessarily means nobody in the department would have access to the bacillus. It would seem that somebody with access to anthrax has been doing anthrax mailings from the Trenton area.

Princeton's official denial has about the same credibility as Saddam Hussein's!

The nasty thing about these subpeonas from an FBI/law enforcement standpoint is that NJ is home to most of the pharmaceutical industry. You can't swing a dead cat up here w/o hitting a microbiologist/biologist/chemist/etc. A lot of them ARE foreigners. Americans are lazy when it comes to science and the foreign students come here for the 'free' education provided either by their government or the states that waive in state residence fees for foreigners that have lieved there 6 months.

And it took them HOW long - at three weeks - to come up with this brilliant idea? How about *detaining and interrogating* all foreign graduate students and professors at US universities? Since Muslim men make up such a huge percentage of science and technology students on US campuses, they can walk around ANYWHERE, in and out of any science buildings or labs without causing any stir at all.
Look to the fifth column WITHIN the US - at universities, in technology, in various research labs. This is what we get when we depend on foreign technicians, graduate students, and professors from Islamic countries to provide the staff in American scientific institutions. The government had better start thinking VERY fast as to how we are supposed to keep science and technology alive in this country WITHOUT foreign students and professors.

Walker noted that many post-doctoral students at his institution and others are foreign-born. He expressed some concern that the scrutiny of university-trained microbiologists not hinder the flow of scientific talent to this country. "The great strength of America has been taking the brains of the rest of world and fostering their development, What NWO bunk. The globalist policians want a world without borders and the universities want cheap research labor. The result: educated terrorists. You can't change a country by educating some of its citizenry. Some peoples are incurably hostile toward us and our way of life- they'll arrive at our shores, eat our bread, then bite our hands.

Curious: there's no mention of the Univ. of South Florida, a hotbed of Islamic terrorists (per the film "Jihad in America"), which is reported to be doing the same anthrax research as the U. of Texas.

I just re-posted this same article, but you folks MUST be psychic or something! The headline just popped up a few minutes ago!
Anyway, ......I still think the anthrax came from Anti-American, anti-capitalist, mother eath worshiping left wing extremists!

PS...they should watch for middle eastern students or employees that work in groups of 6. They always seem to be running in packs of 6.
(Oooooo-6 = scary number!)

I was just listening to the local AM radio station a few minutes ago. The big news was that the NC legislature had just appropriated millions of dollars for "biological warfare protection".
I was thinking, "Great, they're going to buy and distribute some of those decontaminant compounds we have been talking about. Good deal."
Then they went on to say the money would mostly be used to build a "registry" of any businesses using "biological compounds". I continue to be amazed at the arrogance and stupidity of our politicians.

Now the FBI is finally coming to terms with the reality of immigration and student exchange that allows foreign adversaries to train for free in the states.
At least now they are beginning to research into this!
I've been telling everybody about this for years only to fall on deaf ears!
Our red blooded Americans have to go into tremendous debt to get the education needed to pursue science at the highest level, and anyone from outside the country gets a free ride!
We have descriminated against our own citizens for years!
I always had problems with foreigners in advanced biochemistry and nuclear engineering sections, especially those wearing full traditional Muslim garb in the Nuclear engineering areas!
How obvious does it need to get before we change?
Obviously we wait until those elements turn against us on the inside!
I suggest a full and complete review of all international programs!

where was that link again?
Last time I went to download it it took forever, so I gave up.

"The FBI showed routine interest in Princeton as a place with a graduate program in molecular biology, said Steven Schultz, a spokesman for Princeton University, in New Jersey. "We told them there is no anthrax research on campus. Depends on what 'is' means. How about 'was'?
To: Fred Mertz
Am, is, are, was, will be. Depends on the tense, doesn't it ;-). I don't buy that you have to have a PhD to cook up that stuff. Further, the FBI has to work within "is". They haven't made the policies that have made their "research" so extremely difficult.
Our government loves guidelines, regs and controls. Why shouldn't people working with dangerous materials be required to obtain a security clearance and be a US citizen as a minimum? Still thinking in the box. Anybody with enough determination can find ways around just about anything.
Time to shut down or centralize all research with potentially dangerous materials. I'm shocked this stuff is in just about every university.
Still, I'm not convinced it was homegrown but I'm glad they are trying to pursue every possible angle and, given enough time, I am confident that they will at least partially solve the case. What a terrible Pandora's box has been opened!
