The only thing left is for the DOD to bar CNN from press briefings because they are a willing outlet for enemy propaganda. Then ABC. Then CBS. etc., etc.

You know - it's funny. I've had this "dream" for the last few days of Rumsfeld giving the press what for.
Only, it went something like
this But, this press conference comes close enough. Way to go Secretary Rumsfeld!

YES!!! Also, did you hear General Meyers say that he was going to be going around the country talking to the American people? HA!!
By the way, Topps has Operation Enduring Freedom trafing cards out. Every little bit of PR helps!

Rummy is great. He set the press and a few opportunists like Biden and McVain straight with the facts. The administration has been consistent from the start on how they are going to prosecute this war. Most of the administration's critics are those that seek to gain politically by undermining our war efforts. Rummy has that sorry excuse of a human being OBL and the Taliban cavemen just where he wants them.

Rummy was great today. He really played with those 'reporters.'

"You gotta love the way Rumsfeld makes the press look like the fools they are." What I like is that all he has to do is stand there and take a question and the press looks like a bunch of fools before he even responds. It's almost not fair, almost.

Thank God for President Bush, his Admin, and the US Military.

McCain! Go away you idiot! (But read the Secretary's statement first). How would McCain know the speed with which we are to attack? Is he some kind of military expert, (having spent most of his time in Nam in the Hanoi Hilton)? The guy is a lot like Klintoon in his mad attempts to get media coverage and make Bush look bad.

On every level, i.e. intellectual, moral, common sense wise, etc., he beats 'em. You're dead on, it's not fair.

Here's a great excerpt from Ann Coulter's essay today on this topic:
Men are out in the driving rain trying to change a tire, while the womenfolk sit in a warm roadside cafe demanding to know what's taking so long. Just pipe down! The men are working as fast as they can.
Here's a link to the entire essay: The Eunuchs Are Whining

Fasten your seatbelts folks - the next few weeks won't be pretty...
November is ratings/sweeps month. They'll be screaming over each other to get out the "headlines"...
and it will make little difference the substance behind the stories.

As one retired Army type to another, I agree with you 1,000%!!!

We also never had a Navy patrolling the waters of the world as we do today, our aircraft are much faster, better and our weapons systems more capable. There is no excuse for the delay. We are playing a game of "defense" and retaliation when we should use the might we have and end it now!! What is the point of all these great assets if we are going to toy with them or ignore them to waste American lives as in Veitnam? No declaration of War then (or now) PC Police were worried about everyone but our troops (as now) Stop worrying about Coalitions which don't exist and Nuke a city for every anthrax death that occurs. This war will end very quickly!

Great comparison.

The briefing was great. He is in fact going over the press with these briefings, and speaking to the people. Well, Mr. Rumsfeld, the people get it. We understand what Terror is and who is a target. That would be us. We regret the loss of innocent civilians, thru accidents of war, but we understand that each one of us has in effect become a deliberate target of the terrorists. We have no trouble with moral equivilancy here, we understand who the enemy is. We are also disgusted with the slanted press coverage of our own media, which trumpets each accident as if it were a badge of shame for our country to have had a bomb go astray. The shame is the press which seeks to find the anti American angle of each story and play it. This is not Vietnam, where the press contributed to the loss of a country far away. This is our country and we know what is at stake if we fail. Sometimes an objective press has to realise that a cause is just even if it entails war, and I know that is hard for them to swallow. The press can depress the will of the people thru unfiltered reportage of enemy news releases, which they seem quite eager to do, at the same time they question every bit of news from our own side. Good sense, which the press lacks would dictate equal time for one's own side. All we are saying is give truth a chance.
Sorry for the rant. It gets so tiresome to hear the press stupidity day after day.
regards
