[history]
November 3, 2001 -- For every photo published of an "innocent" Afghan citizen in a hospital, media organizations should publish a photo of a World Trade Center, Pentagon or anthrax victim.
For every rubble-clearing photo shown from the city of Kabul, the media should publish a photo of a family without a mother or father in it from the above list of victims.

I agree. Much of the coverage of the WTC has been surpressed. The true horror of that day has been covered up for what were good intentions- to not cause the relatives pain. But there are yards of film showing hundreds falling to their deaths- couples jumping hand in hand to their deaths- mangled bodies- burn victims. I say show it all- and never forget.

I have yet to see a single truly graphic photo from 9/11, online or off. The suppression is total.

The media did the same thing during Vietnam to elicit anti-war sentiments from the America people.
The logos at the beginning of their programs should show those poor souls jumping to avoid burning. I for one, will never forget those scenes.

The media did the same thing during Vietnam to elicit anti-war sentiments from the America people. I know, I grew up in the 60s. The media are intent in supporting the enemy. Not sure why, but it must be a Jane Fonda mind set. We gave "Peace a Chance," now we've been fu[ked and the media continues to stick it to us. I can't figure them out. The best solution is to draft their shiny butts and let them carry an M16 in Afghanistan.

One day last week on CNN's Inside Politics, Judy Woodruff announced a new policy. That whenever CNN shows a report on Afgan bombing victims, they will remind viewers of Sept 11. I've noticed in the last few days when a Taliban escorted CNN reporter shows bombing damage, the reporter or anchor will remind viewers that the reporter was not allowed free access.
Now isn't that special? (This is undeniable admission of past CNN mistakes, and perceived, if not actual, bias.)
As to gruesome footage and photos from Sept 11, the American media must have some kind of gentleman's agreement not to show dead bodies or body parts, as if that would be exploitation. In the case of the astronauts' remains from the Challenger, I agree. In the case of Susan Smith's babies as her car was pulled from that lake, I agree.
But in the case of American soldiers being dragged through the streets of Mogidishu,Somalia, I do not. We needed to see that. We need to see the World Trade Center victims too. This isn't exploitation...it's the truth of what happened.

It's easy to figure them out IMO. The media has been taken over by totalitarians as have our government (formerly public) schools. I am, of course, speaking of the unseen higher-ups who give the "readers" their instructions what to cover on the "news".
Remember the Watergate coverage? Every day and night we
inundated with news and hearings on the alphabet stations, but, did they give that much attention to clinton's "trial" in the senate ( caps left off because I do not respect these people, by and large).

My husband and I watched a so called "expert" ,yesterday morning on Fox news. She was being interviewed on how best to "sell" this war to the American people. For the love of God ,why should this war have to be "sold" to any American!!!!

Hey kattracks! That's my uncle Mike!
To: kattracks
I don't need to see WTC victims for every "innocent" bombing victim. What I want to see are the Afghanwomen who died as a result of Taliban policies - the women who die of simple infections because the Taliban closed hospitals and drove out female doctors and nurses from others. The Afghan widows who starve to death because they have no money for food and are not allowed to work by the Taliban. The Afghan children who starve in remote villages because the Taliban stole all the trucks to distribute food and stole all the food intended for relief. All the people who starve because the Taliban planted poppies for opium production rather than food. But will the Media ever show us this????
To: Tijeras_Slim
TS, please thank your Uncle Mike for me for a great letter, and for expressing what so many citizens feel these days.
