THE BALKANS: Albanian Guerillas in Serbia Again

November 12, 2001; Serbian sources reported an ethnic Albanian woman and her four-year-old son were badly hurt in an attack in southern Serbia near the town of Bujanovac. Gunmen opened fire on the family while they were traveling in their car. Serb authorities blamed the attack on ethnic Albanian extremists who have reappeared in the south. The Serbs contend a splinter extremist group wants to sow trouble and prevent (quote) “the integration of the Albanian community” into Yugoslav political institutions.

Here is where rubber hits the road:

Section 1. Findings.

d) The ability of the United States to protect the United States and its citizens,
and to help its allies and other cooperating nations protect their nations and their citizens,

This article is a bit brief, but does anybody know how they came to the conclusion that this was a "guerilla" attack and not just criminal activity?

Because there is only a distinction between an Albanian guerillan and an Albanian criminal, hence there is no difference.

In an earlier post I reported that Muji's from Al-Qaeda and Chechnya were moving into this area. One of the tip offs on who they were was that these Muji did not know Serbians from Albanians, i.e. they were new to the area. Yugo and FYROM intel services informed NATO of this but were ignored and told that those were not Muji's but hairy Albanians.

If you need the links I will look for them.

It's true. I've just read that the Shiptars have fired a few grenades at a police checkpoint. The fire came from the village of Muhovats (which is in the Presevo Municipality).
