The Salvation Army is about the only major organization that really cares and really gets the work done. The Boy Scouts really does some good for young men all over the world.

Is there no gay organization that successfully does good works? Or are they just forums for negativism and projecting their self-hatred onto others?

Sure, you've got all those AIDS groups that successfully squashed any quarantine efforts early on and effectively sentenced hundreds of thousands of their own to horrible deaths.
