I'd like to get some feedback about what I should or should not do....

There is a New York Fire Department Tee Shirt currently for up for sale. It says it was made for the local firemen in the Rockaway Beach area who lost many in the 9/11 tragedy and recently experienced the flight 587 plane crash. It's a very nice shirt, and as most FDNY shirts, it has the engine company number on it...Engine 267.

The problem is that it is for a non-existent company...it's like the guy just thought of a number and printed it on the shirt.

I contacted him, asking him the location of the firehouse. He replied, giving me an address of an actual firehouse. Since I am not only from the area, but had dated a fireman from that very house (Engine 266), I knew the company number was wrong. Then I looked up Engine Company numbers for the entire city....there is no Engine 267 in any of the five boroughs.

I wrote him back, pointing out his mistake, and told him the correct company number for that firehouse and for the other firehouses on the beach. He didn't replied.

What do I do? I hate to see the unknowing buyer buying a completely bogus item. But, maybe ignorance is bliss and I should keep my big mouth closed?

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I found the auction you mentioned. The t-shirt MAY have been a mistake in printing and now he has bids and doesn't know what to do.

But, in my opinon, he is one to avoid. In his other auctions he is selling homemade CD's. There are probably some major copyright issues there. He is also selling mousepads that he may have printed himself (Ghostbusters, Dale Earnhardt) in which case there are copyright problems, too.

If you like the t-shirt you can create a correct one and have it printed with a sublimation tranfer.

Update - I asked the seller this question on the Dale Earnhardt mousepad:

This is a nice looking mousepad. I haven't seen any others like it. Is it one of a kind?

and the reply:

yes it is unique, i designed it myself. thanks for asking.
carmine

The Earnhardt family and eBay won't like this.
