CLICK HERE to view online National Oceanic and Atmospheric of North America, the 'in motion' Birmingham doppler images. Quite an impressive storm front moving in.

Thanks - looks like one of them in NW Alabama came right through my cousins' farm. Got an answering machine (real good sign), but nothing else at this point.

Listening to the radio it said that it hit in Trustville and Springville - missed Birmingham evidently. The reporter said that there were "multiple cars and 18-wheelers blown off the road". Evidently the storm is moving towards Gadsden along US411 and I-59. Also reporting other tornados in Shelby county. The link to the local news above is where all this info comes from.

I'm in Mobile. Overcast and breezy, high humidity. Just checked TWC and it looks like the edge of the front is getting close to here. Tornado warnings in SE Mississippi.

Trussville which is 10 miles northeast of Birmingham had a tornado. It traveled up I59, turned over some cars, some property damage. No reports of fatailities in Trussville. Other areas in the Northeast portion of the state also had tornadoes on the ground today. One fataility reported somewhere in the state but I don't know where yet.

"I MUST be the DTK (designated thread killer)! Are all y'all in the storm cellar? "

Nah. The storm is still to the west and north of me. I don't even know where Trussville is. It must be up in North Alabama in yankee territory. lol Conditions here are still the same as previously reported, I'll be The last in Alabama to feel the effects of the storm. Click on the radar site up near the top of the thread.

I found this at accuweather.com:

The strongest of these storms will contain heavy rain, gusty wind, hail, and even a tornado. The best chance for this activity will be across Alabama Saturday afternoon and evening and then into Georgia later Saturday night

Anyone from Jasper, have a Grandma I can't reach there today. how can I find out the damage there?
