It's too bad Miguel Estrada never thought of doing a reverse Geraldo Rivera (formerly Rivers) and renamed himself Mike Smith. He'd probably be sitting on the federal bench right now. But Mr. Estrada, who was one of President Bush's first judicial nominations, can't even get a hearing from Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy.

Recess appointments, please.

I'm afraid that using a recess appointment will ensure that the recess appointee will never be confirmed. However, I'd be willing to forego any chance of a lifetime appoinment for a one year stint on the court of appeals. Then after they've seen what I can do with a year, the Senate would gladly vote to confirm Estrada for life.

TroutStalker, if you can, please post the Wall Street Journal front page article of 11-26 about Christians who do missionary work among muslims. It was a very interesting article and I believe that many at Free Republic would enjoy reading it.
