~ Patrick Leahy - Words Do Kill ~

By William A. Mayer - Editor & Publisher

November 30, 2001

Patrick Leahy is the five term Democrat Senator from Vermont, a state that has a less than stellar record in the quality of people it sends to DC.

Leahy is a detestable, bullying, left wing brute whose intemperate actions have led to the death of at least one intelligence operative.

He is an enemy of the United States and the fact that he is allowed to serve in the Senate, rather than Leavenworth, is merely another indication of how far that body has fallen.

His record has been, without doubt, one of the most incredibly damaging in the history of the United States Senate.

"Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, inadvertently disclosed a top secret communications intercept during a 1985 television interview…The intercept, apparently of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's telephone conversations, made possible the capture of the Arab terrorists who had hijacked the cruise ship Achille Lauro and murdered American citizens," the paper said, adding, "The reports cost the life of at least one Egyptian operative involved in the operation." - San Diego Union-Tribune, 1987.

Leahy might as well have personally assassinated the intelligence operative – his remarks were not inadvertent; they stem from his desire to hobble the vital intelligence concerns that have finally smacked America out of its Clintonian reverie.

In 1987 Leahy was removed, repeat r-e-m-o-v-e-d not resigned - from the Senate Intelligence Committee after a six-month internal investigation of his leaking of confidential committee information.

The internal audit revealed that Leahy deliberately made available extremely sensitive intelligence information to an NBC reporter (with the hope of damaging Ronald Reagan) actually allowing the reporter unfettered access to a secret draft report on the so-called Iran-Contra affair.

Leahy also served as the chief hit man in the attempted judicial lynching of Clarence Thomas, the character assassination of Robert Bork and the anti-Christian jihad against John Ashcroft.

He was also behind the efforts to kill the nomination of Theodore Olson as Solicitor General, claiming he was not of sufficient stature for the position.

The fact that Olson was crafty enough to have demolished both Larry Tribe and David Boies in the Supreme Court arguments surrounding Albert Gore’s attempt to hijack the 2000 election, should have been due testament to his legal prowess.

Of course Leahy could have simply asked Olson's wife, Barbara, about his character and bona fides but unfortunately she was killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks that he and his cohorts in large part precipitated.

The Senator from Vermont's continued aggressive challenging of all Bush Senate nominees is a far cry from the position that he took on the McNeil-Lehrer News hour - November 7, 1997 - but then what is mere consistency to a man with such an abominable track record.

"The President of the United States won the election. I’m afraid that some of my friends on the Judiciary Committee haven’t gotten over the fact that not only did Bill Clinton win once; he won twice, and he is entitled to have people who support his position."

Leahy also has been at the forefront of the Marxist dominated effort to bar the United States from using land mines to defend troops around the world – a situation that would particularly and negatively affect such high visibility deployments as those in Afghanistan and South Korea.

"People who talk about 'smart' landmines should ask themselves if a smart landmine can distinguish between an innocent child and a soldier? I call on all US manufacturers to get out of the business."

In July 1987, the Washington Times reported that Leahy leaked secret information about a 1986 covert operation planned by the Reagan administration to topple Libyan strongman Moammar Gaddhafi.

"I thought [the operation] was probably the most ridiculous thing I had seen, and also the most irresponsible"

Not content to merely conduct a traitorous, clandestine war against American security, Leahy has also been busy making war on the First Amendment, recently sending a threatening official letter to Robert Tyrrell, the publisher of The American Spectator.

This letter which demanded among other things "copies of the internal audit, board books and minutes ... and all notes and records of Board discussions of the [editors note: Clinton ordered IRS] audit." Leahy further warned Tyrrell that "should that request be denied, the committee as a whole should take appropriate action to obtain the documents.”

A Democrat assaulting free speech?

How unusual.

Earlier this year Mr. Leahy removed the “so help you God” portion of the oath ("Do you swear or affirm that the testimony you are about to give will be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?") that is required when testifying before Senate committees – an act which really needs no further comment.

Over the next few weeks Leahy will be seeking to further the behind the scenes bloodletting and partisan animus that the Democrat party perfected under the impeached and thoroughly discredited William Jefferson Clinton, taking aim – once again – at John Ashcroft.

Conclusion?

Leahy is evil, dangerous and must be resisted.

Gentle readers, you have been warned - caveat emptor!

This guy should take the gloves off next time. Best thing I've seen written on Patrick "Bloody Hands" Leahy.

I think he was far too nice about this snake. I'm curious to see what Tyrell's reaction will be; Tyrell hasn't been a namby-pamby in the past.

Leahy could barely contain himself with disappointment at yesterday's hearing, when faced with Michael Chertoff instead of AG Ashcroft, so he'll be ready to beat Ashcroft to a bloody pulp, if allowed, in next week's hearing.

We all remember Leahy attesting to exactly how much anthrax there was in that letter addressed to him - even though the envelope had not yet been opened nor the quantity measured.

That's one of the clearest admissions of guilt we probably ever will get out of a Democrat, but it is an admission of guilt! The inescapable conclusion is he sent it to himself, and that he sent all the others. His little game murdered 5 people so far.

It's long overdue for John Ashcroft to pick this perp up.

Leahy should be arrested for falsly representing a US Senator. His history in the Senate is full of unpatriotic acts. His "leaky" mouth has compromised the US on numerous instances. When he was finally caught, he had to go to the washroom without lunch. Here he is again asking that he be given sensative information so that he can again leak it and possibly be the cause of loss of US life. This guy should be tried by the military tribunal.

Right on!! A subversive on the Intelligence Committee!!!! "to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America ... and protect from threats from WITHIN and without."

I say it's time for this traitor to feel some heat. I cannot stomach his supercilious, pompous, way-beyond-term-limits power plays. Email address anyone??

Most likely Daschle and Gephart are pushing Leahy on. Not that he needs any encouragement but they can't come out publicaly against what President Bush and AG Ashcroft are doing. Would ruin their bipartisian image. So they put Leahy up front and center to do their dirty work for them. Otherwise they would tell him to chill for a while.

Because he's so rabid,I feel it makes him ineffective as a politician.Im a staunch conservative, but I thought Newt was a little too rabid. And as time went on,he became a less credible political leader. While Leahy might be in with DEMs now,if he continues this anti Bush anti Republican stance,at a time when the nation is firmly in Bushes corner,he will lose credibility in his own party. Then I believe he will be a loose cannon in charge of the JC.He will make desicions based on personal feelings, than for the good of the people. The difference here is Newt resigned before he got canned.

Loved Newtie, his personal life did him in politically, at least he had the class to resign instead pulling a Clinton.

I wish we had someone left in Congress that could be as succinct, witty as Newt with his big picture mentality.

Leahy is stalling. Judicial nominations sit and wait until he's finished defending terrorist rights.

Thanks, Vermont...

Please dont get me wrong,I did too.But while he was a breath of fresh air for us conservatives in 94,I feel he pushed things too far.But you're right he had the class to resign. The 'toon on the other hand, hung around to see if he'd be impeached. If I knew congress was debating my impeachment, shame and my conscience would have me sneaking out the back door under cover of darkness.I think Leahy is so antiSOMETHING that he's out of control. It was Newts orphanage comment that made me categorize him that way.I know now it was taken of context, but,Im sorry,it rubbed me the wrong way at the time. When his personal issues arose,I gave him a pass because I feel he bowed out gracefully. He does great with FOX now,so all is not lost.Just my opinion.
