You know, conservatism is about choice, is it not?

So, if you don't like what's happening in the public schools, take them to private schools.

Am I missing something? Oh wait, you'll start whining about your taxes supporting something or the other. Tough.

Read it again: Tough.

We prefer to either 1) have public schools that are not hostile to our beliefs or 2) not to fund public schools if we have to seek education outside of it to protect our children from that institution, if you don't mind. And even if you do.....

Under your scenario, my taxes are still being confiscated to teach other people's children the whole anti-Christian pro-Humanist agenda. It doesn't appear that I get much choice in the matter, mmmm?

Private schools are a good thing. Ending Government-financed schools is a better thing.

Thank you VillageDamien! Those were the same thoughts I had when reading that.

Malcolm, no one's beliefs are being discouraged or taught to be wrong. In fact, no beliefs are being taught at all, which is how public schools should work. If schools taught children what to believe, our society would turn into somewhat of a communism. People have freedom to pursue any religious beliefs they want, but those who prefer not to be educated further about God should also be given the freedom of not having it shoved down their throats.

conservatism is about choice

yes it is. it is also about morals.

read it again: tough

so, you support state funded schools. you want the state to have a say in the curriculum and not parents. you want those who do not use state supported schools to still pay for state sponsored schools.

sounds like you with the liberals on this issue. how many other issues are you with them as well...?
