U.S. Indicts Tyson Foods for Alien Smuggling

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Tyson Foods Inc., the world's largest poultry processor, and six employees have been indicted for conspiracy to smuggle illegal immigrants into this country to work at its plants, the U.S. Justice Department said on Wednesday.

The 36-count indictment, unsealed in federal court in Tennessee, stemmed from a two-and-one half year undercover investigation by the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) into Tyson's business practices, the department said.

The Justice Department said 15 Tyson plants in nine states have been implicated in the conspiracy.

``The Department of Justice is committed to vigorously investigating and prosecuting companies or individuals who exploit immigrants and violate our nation's immigration laws. The bottom line on the corporate balance sheet is no excuse for criminal conduct,'' Assistant Attorney General Michael Chertoff said in a statement.

Somehow the media will find a way to forget about Tyson's Clinton connection, and spin this into an anti- big business story.

People here will not work cheaply enough.

You see, they have houses and morgages, and SUV, and multi-media stations, etc.

These crimial aliens will work for a penny on the dollar and live 50 to a one bedroom apartment.

American labor can not compete.

America will be done in by cheap labor.

Just as we are dealing with the residual affects of slavery, in years to come, we will be doing a mop up operation on the next poverty class.

Can't believe INS actually investigated Tyson 2.5 years ago, but I can believe that el-Reno kept it on ice for so long (must have buried the files and they just now found them.)

Must have been pretty blatent abuses for INS to even go near Tyson under the x42 regime.

Tyson Foods Inc., the world's largest poultry processor,

I'm just wondering ,

how much would you be willing to pay for a pound of chicken at the grocery store ?

chicken around here goes for about 59 cents a lb. thats pretty cheap food.

If it would close the boarders I'd pay more , but how much are we as Americans really prepared to pay $$$ ?

America will be done in by cheap labor.

What a maronic statement. It is the equivalent of: American will be done in by oxygen.

There ALWAYS has been cheap labor. There ALWAYS will be cheap labor. Buy a clue.

If I could buy a free range decent tasting chicken (they aren't available in my area) I would pay at least three times more, or more just to get a chicken that tastes like chicken!  I haven't bought Tyson for some time, and that is hard to do, they have taken over everywhere.

That's exactly the right question. Americans are just not going to gut and pluck chickens for less than about $50 an hour. And I don't blame them. And who's going to buy a Mexican chicken? So unless we're ready to fork up serious money for chickens, Viva Mexico, amigo, now get to work!

There is a forfiture of assets clause in the immigration reform act. Time for Uncle Sam to own Tyson.

Clearly you are profoundly ignorant of the practice and results of slavery in the United States.

Let me give you a clue.

We will, in time, be dealing with a new underclass of people who will (and already are) abusing "civil rights" laws and affirmative action to gain political power.

If you can't see the problems all around you and the ones that are coming, then you need to get out more.

May I suggest east LA.

Will not forget when Yeltsin told slick willie that Russia would not accept any chickens from Tyson because they considered the product unsafe.

Tyson's has overrun NW Arkansas with these illigals. By the way scince they file exempt for income tax and social seurity so they can work for less and take home more. What's more they file for food stamps, welfare, rent subsidies, public houseing etc. etc. and put a large burden on citizens who must pay taxes.

The Tyson Foods corporation already stands criminally convicted in the Espy matter. The corporation is the only entity convicted by Donald Smaltz that didn't receive a pardon from Bill Clinton.

How many convictions can the corporation receive before it is deemed a continuing criminal enterprise?
