Federal law enforcement officials are investigating to determine whether sleeper cells or freelance agents of Saudi terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden may have smuggled small, portable nuclear weapons or radiological bombs into the United States.

The deepest concern centers on the chance that bin Laden has acquired and will use a finished nuclear weapon. Rep. Chris Shays, R-Conn., chairman of the House subcommittee on national security, told United Press International: "It's possible, and it's very scary."

OK. Something tells me i don't want to actually read the cost numbers anyway. However, I still don't think that the game is over and NOTHING would surprise me---but for an old F@#T, I can shoot rather well, and at my age, I will be happy to take out a few dozen before I get it--my kids will have just that much more time to warm up their rifles.

GEORGE H.W.BUSH

Old hands hold hands with Beijing on trade policy
"Mr. Kissinger and Mr. Haig are not registered with the department as foreign agents, even though the law requires registration and disclosure of activities and compensation by U.S. residents representing foreign government or business interests in the United States."

The China threat becomes real
"Always of interest in such matters is the way the Clinton administration treats the hero, Notra Trulock -- the whistleblower who relentlessly tried to expose this scandal for years before it unfolded. Trulock was unceremoniously demoted as head of the Department of Energy's intelligence office to acting deputy.

The CIA's former chief of counterintelligence, Paul Redmond, first briefed by Trulock in 1996 on the theft of U.S. nuclear secrets by the Chinese, makes no bones about how big this scandal is.

"This was far more damaging to the national security than Aldrich Ames," he said. Redmond should know. He made his name by unmasking Soviet mole Ames at the CIA.

America once executed people responsible for such betrayals.

Whatever Happened to Iraqgate? Was it swept under the rug because of the CIA - - or Hillary?
"The story had all the ingredients for a political potboiler: official letters from the director of the CIA and the attorney general to House Banking Committee Chairman Henry Gonzalez (D-Tex.), warning him to drop his investigation of an obscure bank in Atlanta, Georgia, because of unspecified "national security" implications; highly publicized allegations by Gonzalez of a White House cover-up; a corporate whistleblower who claimed her life had been threatened; and tales of Iraqi agents cozying up to CIA operatives, and buying up U.S. companies to establish the covert arms pipeline to Saddam.

"It was all a CIA operation,"

If the report was indeed a cover-up to protect the intelligence community, then the CIA's influence over the Justice Department is more powerful than anybody outside the Clinton administration might have suspected. Nobody but William Safire of the New York Times seems to have paid much attention, but just three weeks after the BNL report was released, Reno decided to pay the bank more than $400 million -- of U.S. taxpayer money -- to compensate the losses of its Atlanta branch in Iraq."

God, the Constitution, the law, families, integrity, honor, responsibility, honesty, sovereignty, America, doing what's right. Onward and downward.

D.C. BANK SWEPT UP IN INTRIGUE ... [CIA, MAFIA, S&L FRAUD, PROSTITUTION & MURDER]

"Mr. Speaker, this scandal involves potential treason" and "The more you look into this business of the transfer of advanced, sophisticated technology to the Chinese military, which seems to be clearly for campaign contributions, the harder it is to stay away from words like treason."

Stiff upper lip now. Let the dogs loose.

"I don’t care if you have proof that he raped a woman, stood up and shot her dead, you’re still not going to get 67 votes."

If someone thinks this is too nasty a message, then it will be deleted. Tough. $300.00 can buy one hell of a lot of .30-06, which are VERY deadly, too.

I guess they didn't think it was too bad ..... BTW .... you can get 30-06 AP at the gun shows .... very nice round :)

Who will investigate all the Bush corruption? You don't want to leave that to the communist press/media do you?

Agree this isn't over, not by any means. There are probably hundreds of terrorists here, and we should remain vigilant. But no need in starting rumors, listening to half-truths or out-and-out fake information.

I've been shaken to the rafters by the WTC tragedy. I was afraid to fly for a few weeks after; just about the time I was about to get up enough courage to fly at holiday time, AA587 happened. Now, I'm afraid to fly again.

Have the terrorists caused my fear? Not entirely, since in '96 when the AA commuter crashed in IN, I didn't fly for 2 yrs. This from someone who flew to and from the Far East at least once a year for 5 years, flw to Vancouver every year, flew to Rome in '94, generally traveled at will; been shot at, had rockets landing about 50 yds from where I slept.

I suppose what is happening to me is two-fold. The airline fleets are getting older, maintenance is not necessarily what it was years ago, and yes, the terrorists have me nervous. I don't mind dying, but would rather not end up in pieces; further, I don't want to dread fkying to and from, before I get there.

We have a good Sec'y of Defense, great fighting team, and a president who backs them. I'm placing my trust in them, not those who are trying to cause additional stress on my life, especially those who have no answers.

Yeah, UB, you're getting a lot done here, aren't you? Just keep up those lengthy, repetitive posts, you'll take care of everything. If it makes you feel good, keep doin' it. ;-)

The corruption of both parties is only repetitive because neither party will hold anyone, especially their own, accountable under the law. Why is that?

UB, if I believed everything everyone writes, I'd be nutty as a roundhouse rat.

Are you sorry we have PresGeroge W Bush, instead of Clinton or Gore? We have more important things to worry about at the moment, like a war and terrorists. I suppose you're one who hasn't looked beyond your nose to wonder if the Bush DoJ is looking at the Clinton crimes. I'm just not one to believe everything people write. See above para.

Whatever. If you think you can convince me (or most others) to turn against the Bushes, I must tell you that isn't possible at the moment. First things first, 1)war 2)prosecute Clinton and then we can look at what you claim about the Bushes.

In reply #107 I wrote in repsonse to katze :

"I have noticed that many times when you (like Poohbah) do not agree with someone's information (basis) or opinion you ignore it, pretend it does not exist and claim no basis was provided."

It seems to me that katze's reply to Uncle Bill (Uncle Bill reply #113) in reply #115 is another proof that what I wrote about katze in reply #109 is correct. He and Poohbah are in self deluded denial (opinion!):

To: Uncle Bill

Hey, UB. More canned, repetitive posts? You can have this fake, he's all yours, OPINION and all. If you're gonna rag on anyone, it should be Clinton--this is Bush territory.

115 posted on 12/26/01 6:28 PM Pacific by katze

It also seems that katze and Poohbah just can't stand it when someone writes that their boy, former President Bush is a traitor, even when Uncle Bill and I also have pointed out numerous times that CLinton was a traitor too. Katze and Poohbah just blindly want to limit the discussion to CLinton and not Clinton and Bush and they pretend we are being unfair because we will not play their deluded game of only talking about Clinton.

The fact is Uncle Bill and I are both Americans first and we do not have blind, mind numbed loyalties to either parties. We look at issues and facts and form our opinions independent of party spin doctors trying to tell us how to think.

I also wrote in reply #107:

"I am not running for office, I am not writing a book and I am not in a court of law. I did not write an article for publication or even an official editorial. I freely give out my opinion at coffee shops and barber shops and even on the FreeRepublic-imagine that! And I hear others giving out opinions similar to mine at all the same places."

Yet in reply #109 Poobah still is whining since he just doen't want to understand that a reply on FR is reserved for opinions (unless an article written by the replier is a reposted as the reply)and that articles and editorials are posted for presenting verifiable information as such on the FR:

"First you said in Post #19 that Bush DID commit treason. You didn't use the weasel-words "in my opinion," like you did here--you just stated it as bald fact. Fast forward to Post #107, and now you're waffling and saying that it's just your opinion. You obviously decided to go with the lesser of two weasels on this issue."

I guess we are going to have to hold Poobah's poor little hand to gently guide him into understanding things obvious to other people, namely that replies are opinions. Maybe Poohbah is confused when he reads someone write about firmly held opinions since he seems so accustomed in dealing with Clinton who never had a firmly held belief or opinon (except not to have a belief or opinion-everything was relative to his expediency for the moment).

Poobah's and katze's hero and sterling example, Bush Sr, waffled and weaseled on "no new taxes" and abortion , so maybe they need to go back to the drawing board since they are so confused about the difference between opinions and lying by Bush Sr. on taxes and abortion.

Here is another jewel of behavior (rules on FR cover this but are only selectively enforced) from irish_lad in relply #119 :

To: OKCSubmariner

You are a dumb ass.

Seems to me that irish_lad deserves to be on your team, Poobah and katze. Irish_lad seems to be on your quality level and in your league. But you may no longer want irish_lad on your team since in your estimation (praise for him by Poohbah in reply #121?) the quality of his replies may actually exceed the quality of your replies.

Oh, do you mean irish_lad isn't quoting *your* "sources"?

BTW, you seem to be the only one around here with a "team", those you call for just about every time you post, in hopes they will defend you, or some other inane reason (like your post #133), then call their attention to your posts, i.e, See post(s) #, as tho' you're so proud of yourself. Ya' got it wrong, most of us are independent thinkers; you don't see us flagging for help.

If anyone is to worry about the "quality of replies", it really should be *you*, since you've already divulged they are your OPINIONS. So, don't worry about irish_lad, sounds like a man with common sense, and you have no credibility left with which to attack him. You're not the bully you've been wanting people to believe--you're a coward, who looks to 10 (or so) people for help.

Reply to katze reply #134 :

I like flagging interested parties to let them know what kind of replies they can expect if they should ever get a reply from you, Poohbah or Irish_lad.

Wasn't Poohbah and Irish_lad helpful enough for your team??

Or maybe there are not very many people who agree with your team's point of view-I did not see very many of your friends show up that had quality replies.

You remind me of Gore complaining that he did not get enough votes to win. He still is complaining that more people actually voted for the other guy.

LOL. Now you're mad at the elder Bush because of taxes and abortion. Nothing confused about me, I got your number. My hero? No, elder Bush isn't my hero, but I'll be damned if I let you accuse him of treason without just cause, and hear this--your OPINION is hardly a cause. Our current Pres Bush is a hero to me--is that ok with you?

I'll let Poohbah comment about the hand-holding. If he needs it, I'm sure you'll be the first one he asks. ROTFL

Mister, I think you should quit, since you're going down, down and down. Next, you'll be saying, "I will not tolerate a Govt that lies". Oh, is it necessary to re-post min and irish_lad's posts, afraid your "team" will miss? ;-)
