Our Freepathon dollars at work.
John posted that the move was going to save some money.
Good luck on the transition.

We do not have our new IP address assignments yet. We will post them tomorrow as soon as we get them. Presumably, a browser with a bookmark for "freerepublic.com" will find the site, wherever it's located, as soon as the master incices for the internet are updated, which shouldn't take too long (unless everyone who does that chore is away for the holidays). Therefore, while you toil away to improve things, the rest of us can just wait it out, secure in the knowledge that we're in good hands. If I'm wrong in this, and if we need to do something special to locate the site, please let us know.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Free Republic Server Moves Tomorrow, Dec 27, 2001
To: Jim Robinson
THE WORLD COMES TO AN END TOMORROW. Jim and John, please save us.
From your post, it looks like, in theory, if absolutely nothing goes wrong (never happen), then there would only be a few minutes downtime, while the actually switching over takes place? This would be nice, but I expect to be spending a lot of time on the Yahoo site.

The USO Canteen Post Office is independent from Free Republic servers. Please bookmark this page and if you experience some downtime on Free Republic,
please spend some time e-mailing our military.

Dec 27, 2001. 3:00 pm. The sweats are starting. My hands are starting to shake a little. Maybe if I log on, it'll be there. . . no, not yet. Try National Review. No still sweating. . . maybe Google can find a new Ann Coulter column--but it won't have that picture. OK go take a bike ride. . . hmmm is that an internet cafe? I wonder if Free Republic is up yet? Of course it isn't. Jim said it would be down a long long time :( But if I just stopped in, maybe . . . No, get a grip on yourself. Only a few more days. Maybe some coffee will help.
Seriously, thanks for making FR happen, Jim. I'll look forward to the new year.

See you on the Other Side!
How appropriate, just before the New Year, and just after Christmas, like a belated present.

I picked the perfect time to go on vacation. I'll be away for two weeks starting tomorrow, that should give you plenty of time to get the kinks worked out, and maybe when I return my preferences will work again.
I hope everything goes smoothly, thanks for all your efforts. Sincerely Matthew
