CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. — Buddy, former President Clinton's ebullient chocolate retriever, was killed by a car near the Clinton home, police said Thursday.

Officer Bruce Cathie of the New Castle police said Buddy was accidentally struck Wednesday afternoon on Route 117, a busy two-lane road at the end of Old House Lane, the cul-de-sac that includes the ex-president's home.

"We are deeply saddened by Buddy's death," the Clintons said in a statement issued by Payne. "He was a loyal companion and brought us much joy. He will truly be missed."

They issued a STATEMENT? Lord, what is it with these people? They give the Ron Brown treatment to their DOG for Pete's sake?

Buddy learned the hard lesson- Don't play 'go fetch the stick' in Ft. Marcy Park with anyone named Clinton.

What did Buddy know? Was he killed first and then thrown into traffic? He had a strange wound resembling a .45 calibre bullet hole in the head.

"Police said it was unclear whether Buddy was being walked at the time of the accident or had escaped from the Clinton home."

Riiiiiighhhhhhhhhhht.....no one knows if the dog was being walked or not?? Um, hello? Any witnesses? Usually when you're walking a dog, you are walking with him or her. Did the driver see if the dog was being walked? Does the driver remember anyone being around the dog? Doesn't one usually run to a dog's assistance if they are WITH IT?????

Duh. And to release a press statement about it? Sheesh....

Another time, when playing fetch with Clinton, Buddy became entangled in the ex-president's legs and knocked him down in full view of the cameras.

Word is he was ready to bark to a Grand Jury. We'll know it's a cover-up when they bring in the Park Police to investigate and the autopsy is done by Fahmy Mahlek(sp?)

I wonder if they'll have a full-fledged funeral service for him, where Sinator Hillary can bemoan how badly dogs are treated.

BTW....aren't their laws against a dog not wearing a leash outside? HELLO????? This is so stupid. Yeah, I hate to hear a dog got killed, but would I release a press statement about it????

BREAKING NEWS! JUST IN!!!

RUMOR has it Buddy was about to tell all! He had contacted a doggie psychic and was going to expose the real relationship between he and BILL. Even the part about Bill making him wear that stupid Black Beret! Suicide or Murder? At least it wasn't a gun shot to the back of his poor little head.

Labrador retrievers are the greatest dog breed man has ever seen. Period. They are gentle, smart, fun, great with children, fierce defenders of the home, excellent hunters, and utterly loyal. Poor Buddy had owners who rarely spent time with him, and now he is dead. I care nothing for the Clintons, but I am sad at the passing of what was doubtless a darn fine dog.

Where are the animal rights groups? Shouldn't they be screaming that this dog had no business being loose and not in a safe, fenced environment?

No, not a Democrat, necessarily. The suspect would definitely be a liberal, though. Or a Muslim avenging his noble people. Or both.

Buddy became one of the most photographed pets in the nation,
often seen playing on the White House grass or bounding into
a helicopter headed for Camp David.

Not anymore! Hardly a day goes by that we don't see the Bush's little cuties.

Well Buddy was probably sent out to cr$p on the neighbor's lawn. It's done. Poor dog didn't know any better, no bad dogs, just stupid owners. If he was sent out to the back yard to do his business, then someone would have to clean up. We can't have that at Castle Chappaqua.

regards

I'm sorry poor ole Buddy was killed by a car. I hope it was an instant death, and that he didn't suffer.

However, in a way, this is good news for the Klintoons, as it will no doubtedly get them some front page coverage for a while. Anything to keep them in front of the public seems to be their motto.

Goodness! I will be thankful if the day ever comes that these people just go away!

You're right about that. We had a Black Lab for 12 years and had to put her down five years ago and I still miss her.

Actually Socks and Buddy were the only Clintons I ever would have trusted. I really think he was only a prop for photo ops. You never saw those moments with dog and master you see with the Bushes. I always felt sorry for their pets. Especially Buddy.

I really fell for the dog when he knocked old Bill on his rear end that one time. I remember saying "good dog."

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE

Wednesday, January 2, 2002

"A Suspect is Identified and Arrested for Extreme Cruelty to Animals"

Los Angeles: On Sunday, December 30, 2001, at approximately 3:00 PM., Southeast officers who responded to investigate a "Shots Fired" radio call at the 10400 block of Hickory Street, learned that a suspect had placed a "M-80" Mexican type explosive device inside a dog’s mouth and lit the fuse. The resulting blast blew off the dog’s entire lower jaw.

Animal Regulations transported the dog to a veterinary hospital, where the doctors opined the dog was beyond help and was euthanized.

Detectives from the Criminal Conspiracy Section and Explosives Section, were notified and assumed responsibility of the Post Blast Investigation. The investigation revealed the identity and location of the suspect, as well as additional M-80s type explosives and fireworks.

The suspect, 19 year-old Gil Raul Delara, a resident of Los Angeles, was arrested and booked for Igniting an Explosive Device. He was booked at Southeast Area Jail.

On December 31, 2001, the case was presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Lynwood Office, who filed charges against suspect Delara for Animal Cruelty multiple counts of Explosives related charges.

This information was provided by the investigating Detectives, Albert Silvas and Michael Kriha, Criminal Conspiracy Section, 213-473-7474.

This press release was prepared by Public Information Officer Eduardo Funes, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.

Yep, another Arkancide...

Another Arkancide of a Clinton pet - their previous dog was Arkancided in Arkansas.

“The family's previous dog, Zeke, was also run over and killed by a car when Mr Clinton was governor of Arkansas.”

Maybe it wasn't arkancide. Maybe Buddy couldn't stand the shame any longer and opted out. After all, he was just a front (like Socks) to give the APPEARANCE of being a part of the all-American family.

The dog was named after the president's great-uncle, Henry Oren "Buddy" Grisham, who had died earlier that year.

Was that the "Uncle Buddy" that ran the Hope House of Ill Repute" where nephew Bubba worked as a towel boy when he was in High School?

Funniest replies I've read in a long time! Thanks guys.
(And I found em through a Salon link. Ain't that a hoot? )

But all the ink and tv chatter over a dog?
Media lapdogs mourning one of their own kind?
Or did poor Buddy's death just provide more drool time for the Clinton loving barkers.

The real heartbreaking news of the day was ignored by the media masses:

"January 3, 2002
Widow of C.I.A. Officer Slain in Afghanistan Dies
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Five weeks after CIA officer Johnny ``Mike'' Spann was killed in Afghanistan, his ex-wife died of cancer, leaving their two young daughters as orphans.

Kathryn ``Cissy'' King, who grew up in the northwest Alabama town of Guin, died Friday and was buried in suburban Washington, D.C. She was 30.

King and Spann, a native of Winfield, divorced several years ago and both remarried. Their daughter Alison was 9 and Emily was 4 when their father was killed Nov. 25 during an uprising of Taliban prisoners in Afghanistan. He is the only American to die at the hands of the enemy there.

Spann also had a 7-month-old son with his second wife, Shannon.

After Spann was killed, King ``was upset about Mike, very upset, and she wanted to be at the funeral for the girls. But ... she was not strong enough to attend,'' said Pam Bozeman, a close friend of King's.

Spann's parents plan to raise the girls, Bozeman told The Birmingham News."

Two precious little girls will grow up without either parent to love and cherish them.

Besides having pets for appearance-sake, they probably bought Socks for Chelsea. Chelsea no longer lives with them and they didn't need the cat for appearances, nor did they want either the cat or dog - I learned from FR that Socks was kept in the basement (there have been pictures of this on FR) and Buddy lived with Secret Service people and both animals were just pulled out for photo ops. So, like they dumped Socks on Betty Currie, they probably had Buddy KILLED and then dumped on the road to make it appear the dog ran out in traffic and run over by a car.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that their other dog Zeke's being runover in Arkansas was an accident, but maybe thinking of that, it gave them ideas on how to get rid of dog they didn't want. They couldn't just give another pet away, as that would be too damaging appearance-wise.

The Clintons have inconvenient things removed and destroyed - and it hasn't been pets only!

"She said the former president wasn't ready to make a decision on whether to get another dog. When Clinton was governor of Arkansas, his previous dog, a cocker spaniel named Zeke, also was killed in a car accident."

Appearantly, Clinton has lost two dogs when his popularity was at an all time low.

I too, always felt sorry for Socks and Buddy. How could these animals have been truly loved by such self-centered people?

Buddy and Socks were reported to have turned themselves into the local pound during the Lewinsky incident, stating that they would rather take their chances of being adopted into a "normal" home, than face their future of living with the Clintons.

They were promptly hunted down and returned by the secret service.
