Once again the small minded have leapt to the defence of Christianity and morality without stopping to find out what is going on.

In American Culture (which does matter BTW) this crap is disgusting. So if craping on your neighbors lawn is acceptable in say France - does that mean that people here should not find it digusting. In some cultures canabalism is still acceptable - would that be okay too Mr. Serpent of nine.

"Unfortunately, there are intolerant people who are offended by any little thing," Josep Maria Joan, director of the Toy Museum of Catalonia.

Unfortunately, "tolerance" is never allowed for religious viewpoints, unless one is a muslim.

I think you misunderstand. If true, this is evidently a folk tradition of introducing a little human naughtiness into the scene, not unlike the antics of one or two of the shepherds in the medieval "Second Shepherd's Play." In traditional pictures of the Crucifixion, similarly, the soldiers are usually seen dicing over Christ's robe, as in the Gospel account. In some Netherlandish pictures, while the holy women and St. John look on in anguish, some of the bystanders are yawning or chatting, ignoring what is happening on the Cross. Even when God comes into the world as the Christ Child, or offers Himselves for the salvation of mankind, that doesn't mean that suddenly everyone will turn completely good.

That's quite a different matter from deliberately insulting the Pope. This article is a real stretch, typical of the liberal media springing to the defense of blasphemous and offensive art. It's like when that fellow painted the Virgin Mary covered with elephant dung, and the media instantly started claiming that elephant dung was "holy" in certain Indian traditions. Nonsense. The painting was clearly a deliberate insult to the Virgin Mary, to all Christians, and to Catholics in particular.

What is acceptable in Catalonia is irrelevant.

COPIA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit institution “dedicated to exploring the distinctively American contribution to the character of wine and food in close association with the arts and humanities, and to celebrating these as a unique expression of the vitality of American life, culture and heritage.” The museum, which opened November 18, 2001 (the same day “Active Ingredients” opened), is the brain-child of noted vintner Robert Mondavi; he made a donation of $20 million to launch the “Raising the Dough” campaign. The state of California contributed $70 million and another $4 million came from local tax money. “Active Ingredients” runs through April 22.

Catholic American taxpayers, particularly those in California, have a right to object to their money being spent on garbage like this.

The real culpret here is the Mondavi Winery (Robert Mondavi,CEO) who finance a hefty portion of the museum. (In fact it was his idea!)

I urge all my fellow Freepers to do one simple thing: Print a copy of this article, along with the documentation from the original thread... and give it to just one grocery/liquor store that sells Mondavi wines. Ask for the managers reaction... (The local store where I shop...the manager is going to speak to the "wine merchant" when he comes in to restock.)

It may do no good! But so what! It get's the word out and even little ripples help!

Thank you and a Blessed New Years to you all!
