Rather than admitting to the typo, I suppose I could claim that

ASHINGTON

 

 

is a portmanteau construction of New York and Washington, which would be an especially apt device to use to describe the "Through the Looking-Glass for real" Humpty Dummy clinton years. (Lewis Carroll and Humpty Dumpty were fond of using the device...and Humpty Dummy was fond of using the two cities.)

"'O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!' He chortled in his joy." Carroll coined the word chortle (combining 'chuckle' and 'snort') in Through the Looking-Glass.

Humpty Dumpty uses portmanteau to describe the word slithy, saying, "It's like a portmanteau--there are two meanings packed up into one word" (the meanings being "lithe" and "slimy").

As a studier of Democratic tactics, this one smells funny. There is more to this than first meets the eye. I think there is a serious Clinton (and or Gore and or DNC) scandal hiding beyond the first chapter. Yes their actions are consistent with an attack on Bush and the Republicans. But the strategy design seems more like their tactics to cover something up by going on the offensive and then using the fall back plan of "both parties are a little dirty" if the real story is discovered.
