ANKARA - Turkey, a NATO member, and Russia have signed a military cooperation accord aimed at boosting bilateral ties, often strained over rebel forces in the two countries, the Anatolia news agency said yesterday. "I believe this accord, which is a sign of friendship and cooperation between Russia and Turkey, will be a good example for other countries in the region," the Turkish chief of staff, Huseyin Kivrikoglu, said before inking the accord together with his visiting counterpart, Anatoly Kvashnin, late on Monday. Goodwill gesture. Turkey has eased its visa restrictions on Armenian citizens in what Turkish officials described yesterday as a goodwill gesture. The visa restrictions came after several European countries passed resolutions condemning the WWI-era killings of Armenians as genocide. (AP)

So should I take it that Turkey's foreign minister will no longer be calling for the rebirth of the Ottoman Empire, especially in the Russian south lands?

Re #3

But there is large real esate on the south side of Turkey. Turkey can grab Iraq for starters, the province of Iraq. And the next will be the province of Syria, which will cover many small countries, not just Syria.

Turks are getting nice with Ruskies. This is the conclusive evidence that Chechen Jihad is a long forgotten dream as well as Central Asian one if there was such thing coming.

Re #6

I am not sure yet. But this surely means no press coverage of Shevi in international media. He became irrelevant.
