[history]
Four years ago, as Gray Davis was capping his 25-year, rung-by-rung climb up California's political ladder by running for governor, he and his TV ads often cited an appraisal of his qualifications that had appeared in the San Jose Mercury-News.

Sounds like a publicly educated individual. Boy how Calif. and its education system has sunk. Must be the teachers union. You are probably right, the sheep will go for davis and condit and if they do then Calif deserves whtever bad befalls it. Stupid democrats.

Nothing surprises me. If the coastal counties weren't overrun by liberals, conservatives would be in great shape in California. Right now conservatives don't have the numbers to beat Gray Davis or any one else in this one party state. And the fact the state GOP is flirting with the great heresy of running a liberal as its standard bearer is simply proof of how irrelevant a player it is here. Sorry y'all I wish I had better news in 2002 to deliver but facts are facts.

Although the Merc is quiet now, come election day, it will endorse Davis. The article is correct, though. Even my dem friends are not throwing money at him like they did in his first stint.
Anecdotally, in my first job, our program received State funding. Davis was then Controller. The auditors from the State basically described the very gray Davis as having the personality of a Banana Slug. LOL I guess they are listed by the the ESA

Watch it there! The folks at UC Santa Cruz might not like your comparison of Davis' personality to their school mascot! It is safe to say that he has the personality of a slug.

Hahahahaha, I just remembered a George Will quote:
"Like a snail crossing a sidewalk, the Clinton Administration leaves a lengthening trail of slime, this time on America's national honor"
We can just sub in the slug for the snail, and Davis for Clinton.

Moonbeam Brown probably impacted his psyche badly and that accounts for Davis's mental problems of today!
