...Ah yes, the porn industry. Another piece of clinton's legacy.

As much as I hate Clinton, your statement is a falacy. Porn has been around long before Clinton was. I believe that the porn industry is what kicked the VCR industry off (porn in your home), cable industry (Playboy, TEN, etc.), CD-ROM in PC's (first CD's were porn related), the internet (do you think that everyone uses the internet for Freeping?) and DVD's (high resolution porn). Porn is everyone's favorite scapegoat. Watching porn doesn't create rapists... it makes people horny. Those who preach the evils of it the hardest; generally like it more than most of us (we can all name tons of names here). We are all hard-wired with a sex drive ... and the sex drive is only exceeded by the instinct of survival. The issue at hand is not porn, but how people abuse their authority to gratify their baser desires. And Clinton excelled at that ... and judging from the tabloids, he hasn't slowed down much.

Pre-meditated failure to enforce obscenity laws against hardcore porn on the public airwaves and Internet was one of the cornersones of Clinton's legacy. He was in bed with Hollywood and the porn industry, and the boom occured under his watch and it was an iside joke with pornographers. The porn that Clinton allowed to be distributed in the 90's is much different from the porn of the 80's. And as you see in the Wall Street Journal article, by failing to act he did double damage by destroying the concept of local community standards, since now hardcore is available everywhere over cable/Internet. It's similar to a dealer giving out free cocaine then saying it should be legal because everyone is now hooked.

If you need details on how it's much worse now, you can find it here in a extremely graphic Salon.com article which I think refers to the case who's trial is starting tomorrow: Extreme Porn Crackdown

"Watching porn doesn't create rapists... it makes people horny. "

Unfortunately, these two are often related. There are many folks whose stimulation should not be encouraged, because they have do not possess the wisdom or self-disipline to properly contain it. Hence, rape. There are few rapists, especially serial child rapists that are not deep into porno. What one habitually fanasizes, one is likely to act out. Even if this is true for only 2% of the population, we are still talking about millions of ruined lives.
