The Rev. Al Sharpton, who has talked of a possible run for the Democratic nomination for president in 2004, announced plans Thursday to visit New Hampshire and Iowa two key states for any candidate running for the White House.
Sharpton, the civil rights activist who has unsuccessfully run for the U.S. Senate and for mayor of New York, hinted last year that he would consider a run for president.
A press release issued by his National Action Network on Thursday said Sharpton would be visiting New Hampshire and Iowa as part of a "getting to know you tour."
He has a Feb. 17 trip to New Hampshire, which will include a speech at Keene State College. He also plans to preach that night at Rollins Chapel at Dartmouth University.
Sharpton's visit to Iowa on Feb. 26 will include meetings with local clergy and community leaders, a speech at the Des Moines Area Community College, and a sermon at the Union Baptist Church.

Why is this a gag alert? I would love to see him run!The Democrats are moving back the dates of their primaries so if Sharpton does win, he'll lose the primaries, and he'll have to bow out and support the Democrat candidate for President. If the primaries were held later, Sharpton would get more media attention. They want Sharpton OUT of the race as quickly as possible.
In a choice between Al Sharpton and Pat Buchanan, America would pick Pat Buchanan. Sharpton has ZERO chance against a moderate like Bush.

Al is just doing what Jesse has been up to for almost two decades. Threaten to run and make the DNC pay you off. Bet the DNC is unhappy. They'll have two big bills to pay in 2004.

It has nothing to do with running. It is all about grabbing as much $$$ in fund raising as he can. Let the next shakedown begin!
