After all, what private enterprise does the government run which is both efficieant AND cost effective, hmmmmmmmm??

I'll have to get bact to you on that.
It's possible there are things that can't be cost effective but we still need them.
What we really need are standards, oversight and consequences.

CW, I agree, but don't believe the government is capable of handling airport security without at least 10,000 mor National Guard than it already has. Considering the NG'man in CA who managed to lose a wrestling match with his firearm and shoot himself at a CA airport ( I forget which ), I'm not too sure THAT'S the way to go yet, either.

Consequences if a private firm fails to meet federal security standards: They lose their contract. Keep losing contracts and they go out of business.

Consequences of Federal Dept of Transportation security personel failing to meet federal security standards? You figure it out.
