The top candidates for governor are bombarding voters with television ads as the March 5 primaries draw closer, but contenders for other top state offices have yet to make much of an impression, a poll released today shows.

No candidate for secretary of state, insurance commissioner, controller or superintendent of public instruction has a commanding lead among the 664 likely voters surveyed in the Jan. 23-27 Field Poll. More than half the likely voters have not made up their minds.

I plan on posting "highlights" (a very loose use of the term) from the voter information guide for the primary. Should have it up by tonight or tomorrow. I really liked the Libertarian Gubernatorial candidate that identified himself as a "Unitarian Druid". Ahhhhh, my home state...

Yeah, but who could argue against the Libertarian Lt. Governor candidate who'll help get domestic ferrets legal in California. About damn time. :)

Even though he's not my congresscritter (mine is the lovely and talented Lois Capps, of "tattoo removal" fame), I can't wait to see Condit get waxed by Dennis Cardoza.

Other than Governor, I'm voting for Lynne Leach for SPI and my husband and I are split on the McClintock/Andal race because they are both conservatives, so we'll be cancelling each other out.

Dick Ackerman is a pretty good conservative, and he's pro-life, so I'll be voting for him for AG ... and I think he's the only Republican. I'm also leaning to Keith Olberg for SOS, I know that he's pro-life.

I have no opinions on the other races, anyone have suggestions?

Gawd, I'd tried to tune that out.

Sen. Tom McClintock used to call intot he George Putnam show & to Larry Elder. He is the right man to put in charge of the purse strings.

Oh, I know. The ones that were eerie though were the Stepford Things Greens. Anyone have enough frijoles to find out what are the "10 Points of the Green Party"? They all seemed to be chanting that phrase in unison on their candidate statements. (shudder)

Well, I LOVE LYNNE LEACH for Superintendent of Schools and ELLIE MICHAELS for Lt Governor. Lynne Leach is a conservative Assemblywoman from Contra Costa County area; she is absolutely dynamic!! Ellie Michaels is a mother and singer who has written a song entitled, "No Child Left Behind" based on President Bush's theme. I have seen Ms. Michaels in person on two occasions and am very impressed with her sweetness and leadership. I need to study up on the other races. For victory & freedom!!!

The serious answer >>>

10 Key Values of the Green Party:
Ecological Wisdom, Grassroots Democracy, Social Justice, Nonviolence, Respect for Diversity, Feminism, Community-Based Economics, Decentralization, Personal and Global Responsibility, and Sustainability.

They advocate a few things more in their political party statement of purpose (pages 54-55 of the California Election Guide)

----------

The hidden answer >>> Communist Manifesto

Ditto that. I've met Lynne Leach a few times (she was at a grassroots party of ours in Dublin a few months ago and a picnic the summer before that) and Ellie Michaels just a few weeks ago (she sang to us her song).

Yes, Tom McClintock has been a good friend to our conservative station KSFO in a few of our battles, so he has the edge in my book!

>>>>The Realistic answer:

Pie in the sky utopianism that should never be granted a single iota of power. Otherwise, the "enlightened" would most likely stand up against a wall and shoot as "an enemy of the Planet" whomever does not parrot the "10 Key Values" with enough enthusiasm to satisfy the Glorious and Wise Preservers of Gaia.

I just got an email from a friend who told me that the Log Cabin Club (homosexual Republican club) has endorsed:

Riordan (big surprise)

Conlon (treasurer)

Smith (SPI)

McPherson (LG)

Bannister (insurance)

This really shows how anti-Republican this organization is. Dick Ackerman is the ONLY Republican running for AG, and he happens to be a conservative. They won't even endorse HIM against evil Democrat Bill Lockyer!!!!!!

Why do you support Ellie Michaels over Bruce McPherson for Lt. Gov? I know nothing about either, other than their candidate statements and that Ellie Michaels' address is in my hometown).
I have the same problem for all the other offices except Governor and Attorney General, so I would appreciate any reasons (taxes/values/policies/competition-in-Nov./etc.) I should vote for or against the candidates for the other offices.
