Well, I actually haven't read that thread, as the subject matter isn't what I come to FR for. However, I do see a distinction between discussing issues related to a faith shared by many Freepers and soliciting converts to a small, oddball cult.

As I recall the foundation trilogy several conections come to mind. The notion of interplanetary government, organized thought adjusters , the Aberant from Gaia (the mule) as lucifer, or hitler. No actually it just occured to me that Asimov never spoke of having read the Urantia. It just seemed like common knowlege.

Jerry Garcia, and Gene Rodenbury were named on strange universe when the Urantia was displayed. They also stated there that there is a copy of the text in the white house library. No comment from the white house though.

The rest of my rhetoric was conjured out of dreams, a fanciful imagination, low self esteem, and a desire to prove something. I can't prove it.

Sounds like this was suspiciously ripped straight from the pages of the Diablo manual, courtesy of Blizzard Entertainment. At any rate, they had a better story of the "Rebellion". And they make great games too!

Lucifer and his first assistant, Satan

Lucifer and Satan are not the same "Being"??? Is this true? (Or, suposedly true?)

I guess I've always assumed these were just two different names for one being.

I am really in need of a spiritual boost these days. I have nightmares where extra terrestrials attack. Maybe its just too much sci-fi, and residuals from these suicide bombers crashing into buildings. I'll admit it. I don't like lucifer very much, and I pray to God that Michael has got all of his chariots in order. Somehow Freemon Dyson, Richard Fienman, Robert Oppenhiemer and even Einstien were able to put the big bang into a compartment and deal with life on life's terms.

Don't you feel that we are moving a little fast into this science age, unprepared?

[laughs] Well said!

And fair, too. Fair, hell, it pretty much describes 99% of my own postings....

And, on the topic of unproveable things, an old time writer from the "golden age" of SF who knew Asimov and everyone else -- a guy named C. M. Kornbluth -- once wrote an obscure short story which featured a poor, unappreciated skillful writer (presumably patterned on himself) getting approached by two "famous" but un-named science fiction writers -- one was very short and gritty and energetic, the other was very fat and polite and erudite -- and the two famous writers describe how fame can be had for writers if they just sell out and toady to various strange political and social activist groups. The story was humorous and tongue-in-cheek, but I've always wondered if there was an element of truth to the tale.

I've always assumed the short gritty guy was supposed to be Harlan Ellison and the fat erudite guy was supposed to be Asimov. The two were, believe it or not, friends...

As respected as Asimov was/is, it wouldn't surprise me if there was a dark side to him. (But I've never read him admit to one, or heard anybody on record actually describe one...)

Of course we're moving too fast into this science age. Of course we're unprepared.

But so what?! If you look at ANY DATE IN HISTORY the same thing could always be said. It's the nature of the human race. We're always moving too fast. We're always unprepared. But things always work out.

I don't know if anybody's still reading this thread? But I wanted to post here anyways. I myself have been reading the Urantia Book for 18 years now. I have read the book from beginning to end a few times. I have never seen anything in it that could be described as "False Doctrine"? So for whoever it was that posted that. Please site one example?

I attend two different "Christian" churches. And having read the Urantia Book has done nothing to harm my faith. In fact it has strengthened it! I know the books origin and source. And that casts no doubt in my mind as to it's validity.

I was even inside of Dr. Sadler's house in Chicago at one time. No-one there tried to get me to join any kind of "Cult"! And after reading the entire book, I see nothing that would suggest that there is a need for us to go to war for any reason. In fact! I feel that if everyone were to read the book, there would never be any more wars!

(((ramdalesh))) Keep the faith! And don't go having nightmares about aliens invading the Earth. If and when Aliens do visit us, I'm sure they will prefer to enlighten us than to try to conquer us or enslave us. They would have to be far too advanced to be thinking of such things.

To all others! Please read the book before you go throwing stones! OK?

Peace!
DG
