Who's going to make a run to the store to buy the bier?
To: Lowelljr
Let's not make too light of this. This occurred less than 2 miles from my home here in noble, Ga. The only info I can get on it is through freerepublic.
To: Lowelljr
Someone should definately get fired over this.

I guess it's not true, then, what they say about your undertaker.
That he's the last one to let you down.

Chattanooga Tenn??? I wonder how many license bureau workers won't be showing up on Monday...
To: Lowelljr
It was a family business, the son took it over. Found 18 bodies scattered in the woods, then several buildings contained decomposing bodies. No comments from the owners (Marsh). Open graves, skeletons, no charges YET... Police will be back in the morning to check more, may take weeks.

When I saw the thread title, I knew this would be a hot topic. Reminds me of that Anthony Hopkins movie, "Cremains of the Day".

Funny.
We have a crematorium close to our business and we know the guy who runs it. One day about 3 fire trucks raced to the funeral home. I saw our friend the next day, he told me that the fire got out of hand because a very obese man was being cremated. He likened it to a barbeque....my office manager almost got sick listening to him.

I don't know. This seems to be upsetting some folks. They better calm down--they might blow a casket.

Walker County is adjacent to Chatanooga, only a few miles South. I don't know anything about this except what I read on Freerepublic. I know the crematorium is just up the road. I always figured the smell was just road-killed possum.
To: Fred Mertz
Whew, that was a rough one, Fred.

Bodies Found at Crematory Bodies Had Not Beem Cremated By Ashley Paige WDEF-TV News 12 Feb 15, 2002
Walker County authorities are investigating a bizarre case near Lafayette. Sheriff Steve Wilson says a crematorium apparently was not doing its job and as a result there are dozens of bodies and body parts scattered throughout the building. Investigators are at the TriState Crematory this weekend on Highway 27, three miles north of Lafayette. The Environmental Protection Agency and state officers are also working on the case. They want to know where the bodies came from, and why they were not cremated according to law. Sheriff Wilson is asking any family who may have ordered cremation for a loved one, to contact their funeral home and see if they were using the TriState Crematory, also known as Marsh Vault and Grave, near Lafayette. If so, authorities are asking the families contact the Walker County Sheriff's Office to help them identify as many as 50 bodies found in that building. No arrests have been made. |
