Carter Rips Bush on 'Axis' Label

ATLANTA- Former President Jimmy Carter on Thursday criticized President Bush's labeling three countries an "axis of evil," saying the statement was "overly simplistic and counterproductive."

Carter said Bush's statement seriously jeopardized progress made with North Korea, Iran and Iraq in recent years.

"I think it will take years before we can repair the damage done by that statement," said Carter, speaking at an Emory University conference on the impact of terrorism.

Carter also said the growing gap between the rich and the poor continues to be the world's greatest challenge, although he noted that many terrorists falsely claim to be among the world's destitute.

"We are very concerned now about terrorism. Osama bin Laden is not poor, he's very rich - and the people who committed those horrible acts on Sept. 11 were not poor," he said.

If there was one single U.S. action that precipitated 9-11-01, it was U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia. Both liberals AND conservatives have been responsible for that.

Right, and what exactly did the Israelis do to precipitate the first Islamic dog attack against it in 1948?

Violence in the Holy Land broke out almost immediately after the UN announced partition on November 29, 1947. Jamal Husseini, the Arab Higher Committee's spokesman, had told the UN prior to the partition vote the Arabs would drench "the soil of our beloved country with the last drop of our blood . . . ."1 Husseini's prediction began to come true after the UN announcement. The Arabs declared a protest strike and instigated riots that claimed the lives of 62 Jews and 32 Arabs. By the end of the second week, 93 Arabs, 84 Jews and 7 Englishmen had been killed and scores injured. From November 30February 1, 427 Arabs, 381 Jews and 46 British were killed and 1,035 Arabs, 725 Jews and 135 British were wounded. In March alone, 271 Jews and 257 Arabs died in Arab attacks and Jewish counterattacks.2 The chairman of the Arab Higher Committee said the Arabs would "fight for every inch of their country."3 Two days later, the holy men of Al-Azhar University in Cairo called on the Muslim world to proclaim a jihad (holy war) against the Jews.4

Islam and the ragheads are responsible for the violence in the region and now in OUR COUNTRY.

There really isn't any good reason to keep them around anymore.

Yeah, thanks for your input, Jimmy. The way you overthought the plumbing, it was pretty easy to stop up the drain for years!! Now sit back, crack open a few peanuts, and watch how a real world leader does things.

Isn't Jimmy Carter the nitwit that was President when we had Americans taken hostage in Iran? and the same nitwit that was President during that horribly bungled rescue attempt of the hostages? and the same nitwit that Ronald Reagan defeated....I think he ought to stick to raising peanuts...

Former President Jimmy Carter delivers the closing conference address during the Kenneth Cole Leadership Forum

Closing address? His only place at any sort of "leadership" event is as the "before" exhibit. He couldn't lead sailors to a whorehouse.

"Peanuts Carter" should keep his senile thoughts to himself. He is always intent on proving he is an authority on every subject. Naturally, the left wing press loves to publicise his constant ramblings.

My theory is that the older men in politics get, the more maudlin and bathetic they become. It seems they go mushy in the head - witness Goldwater, Ford, and Carter.

You know, it just dawned on me that some will think I just meant to say "pathetic" in my last post. Oh well, bathos is a great WFTD candidate!

I think former failed Presidents should be banished to an island somewhere surrounded by sharks. Make those GAY SHARKS that will violate them before they eat them if they ever try to leave to give an interview.

LOL...that is sooooooooo funny.

Jimmy-Bub was actually pretty benign compared to Klintoon.

Carter's damages resulted from shear incompetence; Clinton's from premeditated criminality.

President Carter should stick to doing what he does best:building Habitat for Humanity houses. Whenever this ex commie demo jerk opens his mouth he puts his foot in it.

Just shut the blazes up Jimmy!
