France won't back U.S. attack on Iraq

The French ambassador to the United States says Europe will not support any U.S. military action against Iraq without clear evidence that a military response is warranted.

"We would not pledge support. They (the United States) would be on their own," Ambassador Francois Bujon said at a Tuesday evening forum sponsored by Johns Hopkins University's Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies.

The cowardly French would not fight when their own country was invaded by the Germans, somehow this posture does not surprise anyone.

Never. I'm not sure they supported us 100% on the two occasions when we threw the Germans out of France. (Both more than 50 years ago, but you get the idea).

They are already there. Take a walk in any Paris suburb and you'll feel (and smell) like you've had a stroll through Beirut. Brussels, another bastion of nutless wonderment, is as bad or worse, especially in the area around the Midi train station.

The Europeans have had an open door policy to North African and Middle Eastern immigration for decades ... something to do with colonial guilt and cheap labor. They already have massive social and crime problems with the Muslim communities in their midst, and will only pay an even heavier price for this idiotic policy as time goes on.

I don't know if this factoid is true or not...but a recent article in The Economist stated that Buenos Aires has a larger white European population than any of the continental European capitals.

Kind of shocking, but the Economist is about as reliable a source as you can find and it is no doubt true. Argentina never had much of an Indian population nor much (maybe no) slavery, so the demographics there are completely different than anyplace else in South America. The family names nearly all sound Spanish, Italian, German, or English. Brazil, on the other hand, is a genuine melting pot of African, Asian, Middle Eastern, Portuguese, and Amazonian Indian populations. It makes for a very interesting and spicy mix, but the social conditions are volatile to say the least.

I have alot of Argentine friends and all of them are Italian. In the early 20th century, Buenos Aires was the place to be. Many Europeans flocked to the city. My father lived there briefly as a child after leaving Cuba. We went back several years ago to visit the family of the people who took him in while he lived there. The father was German and the mother was Italian. They are extremely attractive people, no doubt.

You are so right. You know, I have worked closely with some French military personnel in the last few years. Heck, my roommate while I was deployed in the Balkans until a few weeks ago was a French military guy. The ones I have known have been good people, and they DO NOT like the fact that their country is being gradually taken over by muslims. I'm pretty sure there is a major disconnect between their military guys and their politicians.

Yeah, the French completely F***ed up in WWII, but they fought valiantly in WWI and shed a lot of blood. Their Army today (not just the Foreign Legion) is quite professional. They have some good commanders and even the American military acknowledges that they showed some serious cajones last year when one of their armored commanders sent his column directly between Macedonian and Albanian Rebel combatants. He was ready to destroy either party. Both sides decided to cease fire.

I detest the weak willed French politicians. I only wish they where worthy of the present day French military men.

If you happen to read a biography of Patton, you'll find he was a great fan of the French military and had little but contempt for the British. His experiences during WWI were no doubt a factor in this. The French had their share of over-the-top bloodbath charges, but they did stop the Germans in the Valley of the Marne and fought very valliantly. Of course, Patton also believed he had been one of Napoleon's Field Marshalls in a previous life, so that may have had something to do with his attitude as well.

The point is, France is a very different country than it once was and this growing problem with the Muslim population will get a lot worse before it can get better. Frankly, I'm not a fan of Le Pen or his jackboot cadres, but it is difficult to see a genuine solution but expulsion of the "Moors" a'la Ferdinand and Isabela in 1492.

Anybody from anyplace can "become" an American. But to be French (or any other European nationality) involves race and ancestry. The Germans realize this, but the French actually go the extent of pretending that anyone born in their country is descended from the ancient Gauls. In many ways, this sort of socialist thinking involves so much self delusion that it could be classified as a form of mental illness.

You are correct, I forgot about the Frankish segment of the population. The French don't really emphasize it that much, maybe because the Gauls were the inhabitiants before Roman conquest and made famous by Caesar's "Gaulic Wars", and I think the Franks were later barbarian invaders (Huns and Goth types).

But somehow, when reading your reply all I could first think of was Franks and Beans. Not haute cuisine, but it will have to do.
