I agree that a strong moral code helped build our nation. I agree that religion and strong families were a big part of that heritage. But I disagree that gay men and women are trying to destroy the family; they are just trying to get along. You see homosexuals as a threat because in order for your value system to be effective, it must be universal. Reparative therapy is a means to incorporate homosexuals into that system.
But it doesn’t work. If homosexuals are not sexually attracted to the opposite sex any heterosexual marriage they enter into is a sham. Fraud or force will not change this. The mere fact of the existence of homosexuals causes people to question the values that you hold dear – and they are right to do so. And if those moral values you champion are rejected, it is not the fault of some conspiracy to do ill. Rather it is because those cultural values failed to meet the needs of our society.
When questions arise about the foundations of our cultural values we have two choices: Suppress the evidence or modify our values. Attempts to suppress the evidence by social conservative have been less than successful. I understand your concerns and I respect your ideals. But the world you want to create cannot be. A value system that doesn’t reflect objective reality isn’t worth keeping and will hold our nation back.

There are thousands of cases where reparative therapy has worked. Even if there was only one, reparative therapy works. try recognizing truth once, you may like it.
