Exactly. He was dead because they killed him. Still sound like twisted, evil doers to me. Is someone floating trial balloons?
And, as I said on another thread, I am not stupid enough to think there were no copies made. As gruesome as this was, the "peaceful" muslims will be hawking t shirts of Mr. Pearl, calendars and tapes of the heinous act. Islam is a religion of sharp knives and explosives.
To: NEPA
If they wanted to minimize the gruesomeness of Pearl's death, this thread wouln't exist. The gruesome nature of his death has been described in great detail.

Didn't I see some Phillipine soldiers get beheaded just yesterday on tv? They tried to blur the screen a little bit but I definitely saw guys getting beheaded yesterday on cable. The guys had to kneel down and were killed one by one. Let's remember all these macabre terrorists don't even deserve to be called animals.

Didn't I see some Phillipine soldiers get beheaded just yesterday on tv? Perhaps you did, but that doesn't mean that my kids need to see it.
It's not censorship if I don't want my kids to see it either. It's responsible parenting.

The kidnappers really ticked off the American Media. Dan Rather was almost in tears at the end of the Thursday night broadcast (east coast). He signed off with a September quote from GWB, saying that the war would take a long time, a recap of the loss of US life in the helicopter crash, Danny Pearl, and then he said "Lest we forget." I was very touched by that. Not to sound overly cynical, but the US press corps is powerful in their own way, and now even THEY are mad at these monsters.

To: AlGone2001
That's not censorship, is it? Of course not. Parents have every right to keep horrible images like this from their young children. There should be a warning to parents before this is shown. I have kids and would also be concerned if they viewed violent material. However, my son is almost 17 years old and he needs to know what this country may have to seriously be dealing with if he ever has to defend it.

I'm with you.
Therefore you and I must be sure to keep YOUR kids and YOU -- and me and mine -- away FRom YOUR television set -- and mine.
And we had just as surely had better not be putting you -- and me -- and gummint agents in charge of OUR television programs.
Deal?

I don't want my kids to see it but if Americans don't wake up real soon about what these people are about, they'll likely be seeing it happening here in the US.

SERIOUS BUMP!!

I don't even have kids and I am against censorship. My only concern is that if we did see Pearl's videotape, what kind of violence would that incite in America? There are lots of people like Mommy Yates who are ready to explode. And, I think since kooks don't have jobs, and watch a lot of tv, it would be bad for America if our kooks retaliated and started shooting up places or people because they have ocd and aren't properly institutionalized or taking their meds. How many times have we heard that one? They weren't taking their meds.
Showing the tape would bring out the psychos, in the name of patriotism. I don't want that imho.
We are normal, but many are not. We have our share of psychotics and sleepers and I don't think we know where they are all located, but we know that they have tvs and tv tends to play stuff over and over again.
To: AlGone2001
I didn't want to see them, but there it was. It was blurry, I think it's evil to even show such tapes, brutal and disturbing. See my post to brian allen wherein I explain my concerns re: the news media's affect on the population, especially folks who think like Mother Yates in Texas.
To: floriduh voter
You and I are on the same page. I don't want to see the tape and would leave the house if it was to be shown at a FRiend's place.
But one of the steep prices we have to pay in order to live in the only-ever Truly FRee Nation in the entire history of our species on this planet is that we will, as companions on our journeys through our lives, have some kooks psychotics and sleepers who simply cannot handle FReedom.
And as another of the steep prices we must pay is that we must not permit our liberty -- yours and mine and our children and our children's children -- to be in any way curtailed and/or proscribed in order that we relieve ourselves of the personal responsibility to be alert for and to the actions and activities of the few kooks psychotics and sleepers who simply cannot handle FReedom.
By agreeing, for example, that "they" may take away our Right to Choose what to watch on our TVs at some place other than at the dial on mine -- and at the dial on your's.

Though gruesome it is, this tape needs to be released for the American people to see. We do not need the media or government censoring news. I heard a report that copies of the report are being sold on the streets of Pakistan.
To: healey22
However, my son is almost 17 years old and he needs to know what this country may have to seriously be dealing with if he ever has to defend it. There are pre-17 year-olds who collect videos of beheadings and maimings. His reaction might be "Man, that is so cool. "
To: Brian Allen
Bump to the top for vigilence. sp? It is each and every true American's duty from here on out. The fbi is just a phone call away.
To: chachacha, NEPA
There were initial reports from one of the arrested suspects that Danny was killed trying to escape. Then perhaps they decided to make it look like they killed him out of pure meanness so as to intimidate the U.S.

Unfortunately, in this land of opportunity, blessed with outstanding universities, 50%of the population does not even know who Dick Cheney is.
To: healey22
Just a thought, but what if it was a video of your wife/husband, mother/father having their throat slit? Would you really want everyone viewing it over and over again? If it was my wife it would be enough for everyone to know she was killed in horrible way. If you asked to see the video, I'd kick your ass (I'm not being personal here, I'm just making a point).
