It takes time, harbour dude! Sorrow is a step in divorce that can't be skipped and sometimes a little self-pity is to be expected, too. This too shall pass.

Have you seen this version?

Butt Prints in the Sand

One night I had a wondrous dream,
One set of footprints there was seen,
The footprints of my precious Lord,
But mine were not along the shore.

But then some stranger prints appeared,
And I asked the Lord, "What have we here?
Those prints are large and round and neat,
But Lord, they are too big for feet."

"My child," He said in somber tones,
"For miles I carried you alone.
I challenged you to walk in faith,
But you refused and made me wait."

"You disobeyed, you would not grow,
The walk of faith, you would not know,
So I got tired, I got fed up,
And there I dropped you on your butt."

"Because in life, there comes a time,
When one must fight, and one must climb,
When one must rise and take a stand,
Or leave their butt prints in the sand."

I promise I mean no offense. A friend sent this to me and after I huffed in disgust, I started thinking...then laughing. Yep, I'm sure I've left my share of "strange prints" in the sand...I'm just grateful for those times the Lord doesn't mind carrying me.

Dachshunds are notorious for house training problems. If you are not willing to retrain them using crates instead of allowing them the run of the house, you might as well contact Dachshund rescue and get rid of them. Don't feel sorry for them. Do something about it right now. Have your carpets professionally cleaned with enzyme cleaner and make a vow to never live in a doggy litterbox again. A dirty house is DEMORALIZING. You can't control every other aspect of your life, but you can certainly control where the dogs poop and pee. If you won't get rid of them, crate them.

Telly Savalas' brother was named "George" -- George Savalas. On the Kojak show, George played Det. "Stavros", whose balls as we recall, were often broken by Lt. Kojak...

Why we should all retain this kind of useless trivia while not remembering what we had for lunch two days ago is one of those great mysteries, ain't it?

"alone"

Hardly; Jesus said, "I'll never leave you or forsake you". I've been single a long time, but I'm never alone.

I haven't read all the posts, so pardon me if someone covered some of this already.

There is a difference in being alone, and being lonely. There is a quote I heard years back that I never get right, but it was about how you are the only person you are truly stuck with for your entire life, so you need to learn to like yourself, and to enjoy your own company.

Guess that sounds a bit trite, and does little to ease the emptiness you must be feeling after years of being half of a whole.

Another addage comes to mind: "God never closes a door but that He opens a window."

One more, and I won't bore you further. "Today is the first day of the rest of your life -- what are you going to do with it?" I've always liked that one, as it applies to anyone, anywhere, and at any time.

By the way, a bit of advice on the divorce settlement -- make certain you get the right to claim any dependent children on your tax return. It may sound trivial now, but it can add up to big bucks every year. It is certainly a point my ex-son-in-law now wishes he had paid closer attention to.

Then you will be fine! Female Brazilians have a knack for speaking Portuguese in a way that will entrance you.
