BUTLER, Pennsylvania (Reuters) - A transsexual woman has been sentenced to up to 11 years in prison for causing her husband's death by castrating him in their mobile home in rural western Pennsylvania.
Tammy Felbaum, 43, of Marion Township, Pennsylvania, could have received a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for the February 25, 2001, asphyxiation death of her husband James, a drug-addict who died from an overdose of the painkiller OxyContin two days after undergoing crude castration surgery.
But Butler County Common Pleas Judge William Shaffer decided on a lighter sentence of 5-1/2 to 11 years after the defence argued that James Felbaum, 40, who was addicted to OxyContin, had been a participant in his own death.
"I loved my husband. I don't deserve this," Felbaum, convicted of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault during a non-jury trial last December, said in a short statement on Wednesday before Shaffer imposed sentence.
Prosecutors alleged that Felbaum, who castrated herself about 20 years ago, performed the operation on James because she believed he had cheated on her. They contended that the pain of the surgery, in combination with the drugs he took for relief, had caused his death.
But Felbaum said her husband castrated himself as she slept to prove he would always be faithful to her. An expert witness for the defence said that James, Felbaum's sixth husband, had died from a drug overdose that was unrelated to the surgery.
One of Felbaum's former husbands, who is now living as a woman, testified at the trial that Felbaum had helped to castrate him after their divorce.

One of the funniest radio moments ever happened on the Roger Fredinburg show on http://www.talkradionetwork.com/. They use it as a promo during Savage. There is a Trans-sexual or whatever on and when Roger asks "if they have an 'innie' or an 'outtie' ", the answer was "That's a matter of opinion."
This character has personally hacked off three sets of testicles, including his own. The last set belonged to his/her sixth husband. I bet the four other exes crossed their legs and thanked God they got out in time to save theirs when they heard this news, although any man who'd marry a transsexual ain't got a lick of sense to begin with and should propably never pass their dumbass genes on to anyone.
Good lord, I hope no children are involved. How would one sort out this mess to them?
